Exclamation Who here has a 2004+ VW TDI

If you have a 2004+ VW TDI with the PD engine requiring a 505.01 oil, which one are you using at the moment?

My personal favorite is either Elf Excellium DID 5w-40 or Motul 505.01 specific 5w-40.

What kind of mileage are you getting with your TDI?

My friend says he gets 55 to 60 mpg. I don't believe him, but that's his story. He has a chip and some other performance (LOL) mods.

I've always secretly wanted a TDI Jetta for the mileage.

On the topic of VW 505.01 approved oils, I honestly don't like the stuff at all. It shears down very rapidly to a 30w within several thousand miles, and the chemistry doesn't seem to be much different than the older oils.

I'm glad that Amsoil is coming out with a 505.01 complaint (not approved) oil next month, as their 5w-40 right now is very stable viscosity wise and is excellent.
