I really like to browse this community for tips on maintaining our 2006 TL as well as observing the variety of interests of its members. It's fascinating to see that how our interests change as we age(mature?).
When I was in my 30's, I had a '69 Mustang GT that I constantly tinkered with and spent money on. By today's standards, it was brutally fast but handling and braking were awful. In my 40's, we had a '83 RX7. It cornered like a roller skate and rode about as well. Again, there were things to tune and parts to add for fun. It made my wife and I feel like kids to drive it but we finally gave it up with the advent of SUVs that could crush us.
In our 50's, I got a '97 Acura Cl and thought I was in heaven - it was the finest car I ever owned and it did everything well - fast, smooth, great cornering, and powerful brakes. My wife got a '98 Integra, to replace the RX7, and still drives it happily. All I ever do on these cars is change the oil and rotate the tires - there is nothing else to tinker with.
Now in my 60's, we traded the CL for the new TL and I love it. I thought I would feel bad about letting the CL go, but the new TL is so good it makes me feel like I'm living better than I deserve to be.
Why bother to write this, hey, 1. I am retired and have time on my hands. And 2. Just to show that when we are young, we enjoy agonizing over the details and when we are older we appreciate the whole experience.
Party on!
