Where/How to donate a car in NY?

Where/How to donate a car in NY?

I did a quick search and came up with sites like http://www.carshelpingpeople.org/

I can't really tell if these are legit, does anyone know of the 'official' way to donate a car to a legit charity organization?

Go with something like Godwill, Purple Heart or Salvation Army. Back in '97 we donated my wife's car to the Boy Scouts.

Saw the sign on a bus today. 1-800-OUTREACH, they donate cars to help family's that dont have one

Any of those legit organizations mentioned above would be good choices for a worthwhile cause. I recently donated my '89 Legend Sedan to Purple Heart.
