where do you buy your tires?? online or store

teh reason i ask is, i have been buying my tires from tirerack or discount tire, and get good prices compared to the stores.
i even get the tires mounted balanced and disposal for $38 for all 4 tires, so whatever the cost of tires plus shipping and no tax is always cheaper than the stores.

i typically find that they are 75-150 more at the stores.

where do you get your tires??

The last pair I got (yokohama avid V4's) I got at the local discount tire place... I needed them right away, and the price was only like 10-15 per tire more then tirerack.

I'm probably going to need tires next year, so I'll have to see if the local place will price match tireracks price (with shipping). I think they will.

crazy deals on Toyos. the local tire store, which is also one of the largest tire retailers in the US (Les Schwab) rapes ass for Toyos, they're also the only ones who sell them.

i saved over $300 on my last set, and they shipped them from FLA.

i dont' get it. if u were to purchase them online how are they going to mount them for you? You take them to your local auto shop and they just charge you separately?? My last set or I should say my first set for my cars were purchased at local place (big10tires). They were yoko avid v4's and seem to have the best price in the city. I personalyll wouldn't want to handle it thru online just b/c customer service seem more diificult to go thru if u were having trouble with urs.

they don't mount em for you, you have to check around for the best prices for mounting and balancing.
the range i have found in this inbred area was $10-40 per tire.
tires and the tirerack have good customer service. i think tirerack is a little better.

I had a bad experience with Belle Tire in Detroit (14 mile rd) -- scratched a couple of my Volk Rims mounting Toyo Tires. :hate: Discount Tire down the road is my preference. Never tried a Tire Rack recommended place. Looks like Tire Rack's recommended places charges are a little higher for mounting / balancing compared to Discount Tire (at least, at the ones in the Detroit area I am familiar with). Had a very good experience with Discount when I bought my parents' Volvo tires.

Will never buy another set of tires in Canada again! Too many taxes and I end up saving at least 25% buying them in Detroit (AFTER exchange rate).

For the ASX I just bought, I shopped around on TireRack.com then went to Discount Tire. They price matched and charged 40 bucks for mounting and balancing. I paid an extra 20 bucks and change in tax, but whatever. It's more convenient this way.

There is a Big "O" tires down the street form me that, if you show them you can get them cheaoper online from ANYWHERE, they will match the price for the same tire just to get the business. My folks haggle with them all the time.

Discount Tire will price match, so I come up with a quote from Belle Tire that I basically made up (I'll actually call them and see what they charge, then subtract $30-50 from that) and then they will beat it by $10, so I just saved anywhere from $50-75 without any real hassle.

I like supporting the local guys if its only a couple bucks difference, but like with my winter setup it was much cheaper and easier to order it mounted/balanced right from tirerack.

I once saved ~ $300 by haggling with the manager at the local Discount for a set of rims, all you gotta do is say 'ok talk to ya later, I'll go buy them from XXX store'. 9 times out of 10 they will really try to make a sale.

I buy the tires that have cosmetic defects. They are structurally sound but don't have the name of the brand on them. They sell for $30 a piece for 16" tires. Me and another member on the board have used them for a long time with no problems. I get them mounted and balanced at Pep Boys.
