Wheel Question...
I want snow tires for my 06 Mazda 6 Sport. SoI got a st of 97-99 Mitsubishi Diamante cheap off eBay. I went with Mitsubishi wheels because they have the same hub size and bolt pattern as my 6. So I tried out today before I mount the tires. And it seemd to fit.
The question I have is about the lug nuts. My 6 uses a tapered lug nut.
And my original wheel has a taper to the lug hole.
The Diamante wheels is flat.
Do I need different type of lug nuts? The hub is what centers the wheel, Correct? Can anyone confirm that these wheels are the same hub as my 06 Mazda 6??
Thanks.

I have no clue if they have the same hub diameter, bolt circle or if the offset is right. I suspect the bold circle and offset is right, but am uncertain the hub diameter is right, you would need hubcentric rings to correct this if it wasn't - which may not be available in the size you would need.
As for lugnuts you have a 60º connical seat on the Mazda, the Mitsu. wheels need a shank style nut. Two things to keep in mind if you are to use the mitsu wheels with the proper shank lug nuts.... first shank nuts require more torque to secure properly then a 60º nut does - so if your hand torqueing bump up the torque 20-30lbs/ft. Also when having them mounted/balanced tell the installer the center caps are held in with a clip from the back side, and press from the front to the back(which is opposite of 99% of the wheels available).

Well, according to what I saw online, both the Mazda and Mitsubishi have a 67.10 mm Center Bore. And both have a high offset. What the Mitsubishi wheel installed, there is plenty of room. More room than with the stock Mazda rims.
Thanks for the info about the lugs....

Your best bet to get the right lugnuts would be a salvage yard, just make sure you get them for the mitsu, its fairly crucial that the shank is the proper size. Both the mazda and the mistu. use 12mm x 1.5 so that's a non-issue. By going through a salvage yard they should be cheap too, as where any place else will be fairly expensive - junkyards just throw them away so if they can sell a set they already have taken off its easy money for them and a fair price for you.
