on the F150 though. More folks probably know the F150 moniker more than M3.

I wasn't saying the 325 or 330 per se were alphanumeric (though they actually are if you use their correct designation ) I was just saying if I told the same people it was a 325 or 330 instead of an M3 they would more likely recognize them.
As for the 911, I think it fits the designation since many of the models are alphanumeric, though I didn't point this out. 911 is odd since it is used more like a chassis designation by Porsche, how many 911 actually have 911 on the rear?

i think it depends on where you live and they type of cars you grew up with:
like around here is H2,Z-71,F-150,Z-28,SS(which i don't like any of em)where I go to college at i'd say it's 90% american cars/trucks
now if you european upbringing(like me): some of my favorite are AMG, and M3 or M5.
another one I see abbreviated a lot on cars is EFI(older silverados) and DOHC(like on the Civic Si)

What's with all the pissing over alphnumneric?
Since the original poster didn't clearly specify and even noted RL in their post, all alpha . . . it could be assumed that alphanumeric could be mix.
So unless it's clarified . . have fun with it and quit ragging on the rest.

I would say F-150. best selling truck for 28 years, no one can match that. 911 is a good bet too, most people think its the only thing Porsche sells. Its part of why the 928 and 964 failed. People equate Porsche with 911.
7 and S and LS are very well known. People either want one or know what it is. 3 is also very well known, more than the C-class.
