What are my chances?
What are my chances?
After happily owning 6 Honda products in 4 years (5 trouble free Accords and one 2002 TL), I've bought a lemon - and I bought it used. I'm referring to the TL, which was purchased (clean carfax and all VIN etchings) with only 34,414 miles - and since that purchase date THIS May, has had to have an astounding $5000 in warranty work (and no, not a transmission). Interior parts warping, jamming, discoloring, hardening, etc. Recently the windows stopped working and took the sunroof with them, the "Side Airbag Off" and TCS lights come on for no reason (no one in passenger seat), the window fuses blow, the steering column BROKE, etc.
I wrote to Acura Client Services and gave them my loyal history to Honda, and the history of my TL, and asked them to stand behind their product and back this TL by offering me an extended warranty contract to 100,000 miles at NO CHARGE. I also told them that if they refused, I'd defect to Lexus next time around as I buy new cars every 2 years.
What do you think my chances are?

EDIT: I also included that since buying it, it has spent a month out of service. The dealer doesn't seem eager to resolve the latest issues, and that I'm afraid of future repair bills.
Threatening them with an ultimatum isn't going to help. And it's only a "lemon" if it falls under the "lemon laws" You could have a hundred different things go wrong and it wouldn't be a lemon... it all depends on the frequency of the problem and if they can not fix it.

I agree..
One person ultimatums made to billion dollar corporations usually don't work. I would have just gone the nice route and left the threats out.
But nice or not, they probably won't do anything. you'll get an "I'm sorry" letter maybe, which you can frame, but thats it I think. Can you lemon law a used car? Or it has to be new?
That really doesn't qualify as a lemon.
You still have the full warranty on it right? Get everything fixed and sell it once the warranty is up.
You can lemon law a used car, but there are specifics involved with it. I'm not really familiar with GA law, so i can't really tell you.

yea you def should have left the threats out. I work in customer service and deal with problems like this all day( to a lesser extent than a car) but when people tell me they are going somewhere else im just like well fuck you and dont want to help you or care at all. it goes over much better if you are nice about it. trust me i know
