What Is The Future Of Saab In GM's Stable?

....So far they're continuing the marque under its own name. I just wonder if this is going to go the way of so many other former car makes.

When, and if, that happens how long will GM maintain service support for current Saab owners?

I'd venture to guess Saabs would be treated exactly the same as Pontiac and Saturn, they all can be serviced at any GM-branded dealership.

Considering Saab was just a rebadged brand for the better part of a decade, it shouldn't be too hard.

Zero (0) future under GM.
GM no longer owns SAAB, which is now owned by Spyker and on the market for additional investors.

i thought they were purchased by them.

I would say after the last car is out of warranty from under gm's watch is when they get cut off.

such a shame too, it's really a save-able brand. dealer network's already set up, they finally have a crossover (9-4x), they just need someone with a brain to look at what's not working with their sedans - high priced cars with crappy interiors. the newer sheetmetal looks great, then you get inside and it's 1990's GM parts bin.

I don't think they were all rebadge, there were some (like the Saabaru wagon and whatever the SUV was) but the core cars were still independent from GM's platforms and were still primarily using Saab engines. The interiors were parts bin specials though.

It's kinda sad though, anyone whos driven a late 70's Saab model 99 knows they used to have a ton of characte,r GM made them plain.
