I found a 2003, all stock, never down, with 2300 miles for less than $5k...

It's a Buell Firebolt XB9R. 984cc Air/Oil/fan-cooled, four-stroke, 45 V-twin.
92 HP, 68 ft-lb.

Could be a good beginner bike compared to a CBR/Ninja/GSXR.

..that bike will do just about the same speeds as a stock CBR, GXSR ...so I am not getting why you think it would be a better "Beginner Bike"?

If you want a buell learner bike, get a blast. Learn how to ride, then learn how to ride fast on a different bike.

984cc is too much for first bike, don't kill your self.

The pic worked just fine a minute ago.

Anyway...i think it'd be a good starter because it has less HP than the more common sport bikes, the revs wont be as high, and its dirt cheap.

I agree, take the motorcycle safety class, I think they provide 250cc bikes. Hasn't this been discussed before??

It's the torque that you will have a problem with. You have to be real smooth with the throttle with bikes that make a lot of torque down low.

If you give it to much gas coming out of corner you will high side yourself to the high heavens.

word.
get something like a 600. that 998cc is probably just as hard to learn on as a cbr1000rr, a gxr1000 or the like.
