What do you think about hardparkers?
A hardparker is someone who puts lightweight forged racing wheels on their car, expensive racing spec coilovers and suspension parts, a roll cage, big brake kit, engine mods, etc. but never goes to the track. They usually spend enough to build a full-on race car just from what they spend on bolt-ons.
After dropping $3,000 overall in suspension parts they can't drive their car hard at all because they're so low to the ground that their dampeners don't have the proper amount of travel anymore.
hardparkers are known to say things like "omigad suite jdm bremboz" (in a serious way) and to spend loads of money on things simply for the sake of being different, like $50 on a JDM clock delete, $100 on a airbag delete tray, etc.

unless you are buying the parts for them, i would say you can have your opinion. but if they are happy doing it, then why not? it may seem like a waste of money, but they're happy.
We all try to do something unique to set ourselves apart.

I think it's a waste to do that to a DD, but everyone has different tastes. I personally don't want to scrape my car on every driveway/ramp I drive on and enjoy the dampening of my very mild suspension choices, but most think it's too mild and not enough of a drop. It's all personal preference.

Other than the fact that I think dropping major coin on fancy suspension, wheels, seats, LSD, etc on the car you plod to work in in the morning is just a horrendous waste of money, I don't really care if guys do it. I take my DD's and street cars lightly modded these days.

I don't know how it came about, but the idea of it amuses me. IMO the majority of Mugen parts makes me think of "hardparking" because everything they make is overpriced and usually barely offers a performance increase over the next best product (and sometimes not at all), yet you see them on quite a few cars.
I guess its because hardparkers are usually seen at meets with their car parked, trying to look hard.... as opposed to being seen tracking their car hard at an autocross or the drag strip
I think its a waste of money. My friend put 25000$ dollars into a 95 talon (25000 with the purshase of the car) and how that he has 450hp at the wheels, he is scared that shit will go wrong or that something will break on this car so he doesn't track it. He uses it as a DD.

I've put way too much money into the CL and I dont track it. The Civic is becoming a huge money pit (thank god Im not married). It will be tracked, and I WILL beat the shit out of it, constantly. I'd much rather them be hard parkers then street racers where they could injure someone else.
there is a limit to this from my understanding, I mean if you put some light wheels and suspension stuff, you can justify it by both in an increase in performance and looks. However, if you rip apart every wire harness in you car to get rid of the un-necessary ones, get rid of ABS and other stuff just for a street car, it's pointless. Its going to make your car .01 second faster red-light to red-light...
Ah, It's like Yankee fans, who will spend $75 for bleacher seats, $6.50 for a hot dog and $12 for a luke-warm beer. You can shake your head in amazement; but its their money. Or was their money.

To each his own indeed. Do whatever makes you happy. I've spent thousands on my car too, its just that I don't spend $15,000 on different wheels alone. Hell, everyone spends money on their cars... its what enthusiasts do. I guess it was a spur of the moment thread, I was just at a meet and some guy was talking about his new turbo for his WRX, this and that, dynoed at 400 to the wheels.... then when someone asked him about his track times, he said he never went before

I don't mean to hate either, its just that instead of dropping $20k on your E46 330i you probably could have more than half of what an E92 335i costs
Nope! If I'm jealous I keep my own insecurities to myself instead of voicing them out in one way or another. Its just a fad that I don't understand. Yeah, I don't have as much money as a lot of hardparkers.... but I'm not jealous. Oil sheikhs who have a fleet of Bugattis and Lamborghinis that they can wreck without breaking a sweat... I'm jealous of them.

Related but not the same thing IMO. The difference is that these dudes are often just trying to throw their money around to attract attention/women and flash their status, not necessarily because they're avid car enthusiasts.
