What do you all think about the Mazdaspeed6?

My cousin is thinking about a Mazdaspeed6. He said that he likes that it has AWD, 270hp, it's not that common, and is fast.
I told him it's a nice car, but I told him that for the price $30,000 he could get an Evo, WRX Sti, or even the new 07 G35x for $3,000 more.

It's a very nice looking car IMO. I love the exterior styling and the interior is pretty nice as well. I haven't heard of any issues with the Speed6 either, but I haven't followed them that closely either.
Like you said though, for $3k more, I would opt for the G35x.......but I guess I am a little biased.

I honestly have it, i had an evo before it ...
For the money get an evo, you wont regret, i hate this car compared to my last
Its nice cause its luxurious, feels like a bmw, and is pretty reliable so far
I honestly should ahve got a bmw 3 series for the same payments, or kept the evo

iirc, the speed6 awd is fwd bias, with the rear kicking it at the sign of slippage.
can anyone confirm?

i think it's a very good value. at least in canada, i've read around other boards that mazda has been giving significant discounts.
can anyone confirm?
Its new "active torque split" all-wheel-drive system uses sensor input, including steering angle, yaw rate, lateral force and engine rpm, to adjust front/rear torque distribution anywhere from 100/0 to 50/50.

I kinda looked into it, but after much research... I'm on the verge to trade my 02' TL-S for a Subaru Legacy GT Limited (05' or 06'). I know the "Leggy" isn't much to look at as far as styling goes, but I'm more into performance than looks. And at the same time I'm not going to get a WRX or Evo either. I'm 36 Not 16

don't get me wrong.... a leggy like that is rare... Of course, if I get one... I'd probably work on getting it to look like that...
damn! that's sweet! do you know what kit that is?

Btw, talked to my friend and he is going to test drive the Mazdaspeed6 and might test drive the G35x too.
The Mazdaspeed 6 has so many issues with its driving experience that it honestly is probably the worst of the group of cars he could consider.
Some larger issues that people have mentioned in other threads:
- on/off non-linear nature of the clutch
- AWD system reacts too slowly
- loss of power when ambient temperatures increase and as heat soak sets in
- loss of power when not using 93 octane fuel
Honestly, the Legacy GT offers basically everything the Mazdaspeed 6 offers but in a cleaner looking package for a few grand less.

I test drive the car when it's first came out. The power is good, handling is better than what I expected. But for that amount of money, to be honest, I"ll go for something else other than Mazda. I know this is a bit stereotype, but at least that is what me and my gf thinks when we drove the car.

The local dealers around here have been trying to unload their entire stock of Mazdaspeed 6 sedans at a hair above invoice. In fact, I saw a Grand Touring model being sold for $23995, brand new, and it has been on their lot for more than 4 months now. It's a beautiful color too, but it just isn't selling because there is so much about it to dislike.

I love my Mazda3.
+1 for all the legacy love in here. i like it

speed 6 is cool and at the price they are trying to get rid of them with its a sweet deal. obviously i prefer subie awd and tank like 2.5 block.
