What to do? v. wheels
(Cliff notes on the bottom)
So i have had 3 flats since I had these stock tires. Maybe 20k miles on them.
First flat was fixed by patching.
Second tire couldnt be fixed. So i asked them to throw on a used tire on that rim so i can use it as a spare tire. (my spare is full size and i had it on the car)
Third tire today couldnt be fixed because i was driving on it and tore apart the sidewall. So not fixable.
Now I have that used spare tire that i bought on the car and no spare. The used tire is bald as shit but does its job as a spare.
Now what to do? I dont want to just replace that one tire with a new one cuz it will not match the other tires. Plus my other tires will only last one more season anyways. Or do i replace all the tires with somthing else in a 235/45/17 tire? Which ones? OR should i just get some 18s with all seasons and sell the 17s?
18s im thinking of getting since they are in my price range.. (1k or under without tires)
18s on left, 17s on right
Cliff notes: Need new tires but not sure if i want new tires on the stock wheels or get cheap 18s with new rubber instead.

What size would the tires be on the 18s? A 40 series I assume?
That might get kinda harsh in the winter with potholes, especially with your suspension.
Those 18s definetly look good though.

I would weight price of wheels vs price of tires. I've been tossing around the same, have some decent all season wheels (like a-spec) and get rid of my OEM 17s... then I think, do I really need 18s? I have nice 19s (which I think you sold yours). So anyways, if you're looking for a great tire thats cheap, go for the Falken Ziex 512s or the Pirelli Pzero Nero M+S. If you want bigger wheels, those OEM 18s look nice as well. But my opinion is I like the 17s better. So just get some tires and call it a day, save that extra $$$ for something else.

I'm hard on tires too, and went thru a similiar deal with killing tires before. I bought a replacement oem from a member here for the first time I lost a tire. Ended up killing another one, so I got 2 replacements and keep one oem as a spare. Killed another oem, and now I'm down to 2 oems in the rear and 2 Yoko's up front.
I'd just buy 2 tires, and use the non-bald one that's already on the car as the spare. That gets you back in good shape for $300 or so...
Getting 18's is going to make it easier to blow out tires (IMHO)... and by the time you're done will cost over $1000 (for rims and tires)...
Didn't you used to have 18's on your audi, before ??

Well I could get 2 new tires for the rear but my fronts would only last one season. Then i would have to replace those fronts which then wont match the rears and so on. I think im suppose to keep all 4 tires the same on an AWD car, but might be a myth.
I had 19s before without much issues. But I always buy the warranty from Discount Tire that replaces flat or damaged tires. My parents have that warranty and they been great with replacing or fixing flats for free. Hell my mom had 40k miles on her tires and two of them had bubbles in the sidewall and yet they still replaced them for free. So if i go with 17s or 18s im getting the warranty. Its $25 extra for each tire, i think its worth it. Hell they wanted $145 for my stock tire when i went to them yesteday.
If i bought 18s then it would cost me an extra $550 to upgrade. But then again i could always sell the 17s for around $300 maybe. Sooooo..... yea.
I want BBS CH sooooooooo bad but way out of my price range. Unless i use a credit card and get into debt.

Is the quality the same with the replicas?
I had 18 inch Katana Destiny rims as my first set. They were cheap and looked good. But I hit quite a few potholes with them and by the 1st year they were bent to shit. The ride quality suffered and the steering wheel shook at speeds higher than 65mph
So I got a deal on some Enkeis and wow. What a difference. Ive hit more potholes...probably worse than before and the rims arent even close to giving out. Ride quality is perfect.
Id buy new 17 inch tires and call it a day. Save up for some quality 18s.

Thats the thing, im not sure if i want to spend a lot for wheels anymore. I could save up for nice 18s but rather use that money elsewhere.
These replicas are pretty good and MANY Audi owners are running them without issues. So im def not worried about bending them. Guess i should check to see how much they weigh compared to my 17s.

Good luck dude with the 18s. Aren't you upgrading your car soon? Or am I imagining things? Personally, I'd say ... just get 4 good all seasons all around (Kumho ASX if they have them in your size -- Pure Adrenaline have them; I put them on my parent's Volvo) and go with that.
Get some nice rims on your next car.

I thought that was where you were going to end up... The 18's will be a nice compromise. Not too big, not too small, throw some all seasons on there, and you're good to go for the summer and the winter...

My buddy had those 18" replicas on his S4... then he got rid of them because they were too heavy.
But I think they look great. You should get them, Jesal. And get some Kumho ASX. They are pretty damn cheap on Tirerack.com. I got my 225/40/18 for 87 each. So I didn't expect much, but they really impressed the hell out of me.

The good thing about that style of 18" the way the spokes are on the outer lip make the wheels seem even bigger. Some wheels in 18" look tiny when they are inside the lip.
In regards to the CH, I believe they make a very lightweight replica of the CH. I believe I saw it floating around on the e90 boards, and looked very nice.

Only problem with those is that im not sure if my local discount tire will warranty them if i bought them from you. If you bring the price down more then maybe you can sway me.
Let me call my tire place tommorrow and see if they will warranty them.
