What is the best "Special Edition" of a car?
By special edition I mean anything noticeably different to its base model. 99% of these are performance editions. I'm talking M, AMG, etc.
My favorite has to be the Evo IX. The fact that a car of that caliber shares its name with one of the slowest economy cars around is astounding.
I like the E30 M3 as well, and I think the E35 and E39 M5s deserve honorable mention.
What're yours?

Porsche RS models (GT3 RS, the new GT2 RS, even 993 RS, 2.7 RS)
GTO version of the 599. makes the 599 irresistable IMO.

I think STI is pretty good, but the RS from Audi is just flat out awesome.
RS, M, and AMG all have that cachet of being very special. I always wanted an M5 if I could ever afford it. But now? Hmmmm..... Can I get an RS6?

I HAVE agree with Portland and Never: The RS6 takes the cake when it comes to special edition cars. ...and I'm not a particularly big Audi fan.
Coming back down to earth a bit, I've always felt that the old BMW 330i Performance Package was pretty cool (if not understated) special edition. LINK Excluding the E46 M3, this would be the only E46 that I would consider picking up.

Turbo. Just that single word tacked on to many cars turns them into who-cares cars into collector-worthy cars. Supra, MR2, 911 (ok, not really), 944
Still, the Clio V6 is I mean, imagine if they took a Honda Fit, widened the track, and dropped in a J37 in the backseat.

I knew I wanted an SC430 but when I saw the 09 Pebble Beach Edition, I was sold:

It has a 2-tone black/white interior.
