Porsche Cayenne GTS and ML63 AMG were at the top of the list... but the SQ5 has taken over the top spot for now. I can get the Audi newer and with fewer miles for quite a bit less that the other two. Not going to buy until next year so I'll drive each and keep an eye on prices and see what happens...

So after coming back from lunch today I now need a new windshield. Damn rock almost the size of the tennis ball was kicked up. Never saw it coming till it impacted. Only saw the size later watching my dash cam. Made a claim. Have a $50 other comprehensive deductible. Told them I want OEM glass only. They said they would make a note and see if it was approved and I should here back later today or tomorrow.

The impact was so bad it sounded like a gun went off. I still have a headache from it two hours later. Ended up with some glass in my lap as well. Also the paint chip near impact I am not sure if would be from this or another incident. It is small enough I am not sure I want to deal with a roof repaint claim.

My crazy ass still drove the car back to work after stopping at home.

A little higher & a little inboard & it could've been your sunroof. Crazy for it to crack even the inside of the glass.

It was probably clsoe to that. It is a 55mph road. I was probably doing 5mph over at the time. Who knows if the dump truck with trailer and bob cat was doing the speed limit or under. But yeah crazy impact speed.

Yeah almost looks like it might have been a piece of busted up concrete. I though about going back to the road once traffic died down a bit for the night and trying to see if I could find it. Was too tired to deal with it though. Would have been a long shot anyways.

Or it could hand ended up in my sunroof or hitting a painted part of the body. Honestly I guess the windshield is almost the best thing it could have hit. No paint work needed.

Damn. Too bad you don't have the info from that dump truck going the other way. It may have bounced out of its bed...

I actually do have the info. I was able to freeze frame it and read the name and DOT registration number off the door to get a phone number. I am just not sure the insurance company will care for such a small claim and it is only cost me a $50 comprehensive deductible. I have not bothered to tell them I have the trucks info but did tell them I had dash cam footage and they didn't seem to care about it. Even then can you 100% prove though it for sure came off the truck. I mean I think it is really likely that is what happened but how do you prove it.

Essentially

If you could prove it came off his truck and not from the road.. different story.

Yeah it would be so hard to prove I agree that it isn't worth it.

Definitely could have been way worse. Scared me that glass came off on the inside to how close it could have been to the object coming through the windshield had it have hit lower where it might not have been such a glancing blow.

Definitely hard to prove but those stickers on the trucks do not mean anything. If you can prove that something came loose or flew from a truck they are responsible regardless of what stickers they have plastered on the back.

But I agree... from that angle hard to say where it came from and with such a small deductible... probably not worth it.

Windshield is definitely the best place that could’ve hit, other than the hood( would’ve been a good excuse to buy a power hood from weaponx)

I saw your video on YouTube last week. That sucks man. Glad it'll just be a $50 to get it repaired. I've had a small rock chip in my windshield that I've been living with for a year now, but damn that was a gigantic rock that hit yours.

i don't want to hijack icey's thread... but i did a ZL1 lid swap... and made the mistake of getting AN fittings from chinaBay... there was an imperfection on the female threads which damaged the seat of the flange on the lid... so i have a small water leak on the shelf of the lid where the cooling lines come in... i can still drive the car, but i need some time to take everything off, try to fix the flange or replace it...

it's also an excuse for me to drain the whole system and go with green coolant so i can tell apart if i have coolant leaks
