VP of biggest Porsche dealer in USA vanished with $2.5 million in deposits
As vice president of marketing at the largest Porsche dealer in the country, Shiraaz Sookralli personally handled some of Champion Porsche's most valued and deep-pocketed clients. Over the last year, he collected over $2.5 million in customer deposits for dozens of the company's ultra-exclusive 911 GT3 and GT3 RS models.
There's only one problem: The cars never existed, the money is missing, and Sookralli just vanished without a trace.
That's according to a lawsuit filed by the dealership against Sookralli in Florida's 17th Circuit Court last week, which first surfaced online in an explosive thread over on Rennlist, one of the most popular online forums for Porschephiles. Beset by financial woes, Sookralli allegedly created a shell company called "Champion Autosport," produced fake documents to trick buyers into thinking they were placing a real order with the dealership, and diverted their money into a secret bank account—one that's since been emptied out. The documents also state that Sookralli admitted to all of this in emails and phone calls with Champion Porsche, though his whereabouts are unknown.
With more than $2.5 million gone, it's on track to be the largest fraud case in the history of Porsche Cars North America, once the dust has settled. The scale of the fraud makes criminal charges a likely development.
The dealership claims to have had no knowledge whatsoever of Sookralli's actions prior to his disappearance at the end of August in the lawsuit. But that explanation isn't sitting well with the would-be owners who have neither their cars nor their cash—and a previous suit involving Champion Porsche, Sookralli and anearly-identical scheme is boosting their suspicions.

The rennlist thread is a very nice read for a lazy friday/weekend: https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...sookralli.html
Also I googled Champion Porsche and apparently the principal owner died earlier this year in a drowning incident in Florida.

Sad for the company's profile. They just lost their owner too back in July.

I've been lurking over on the Rennlist forums quite a bit these past 2 days....there are some dudes who are fucking loaded. Carrera GT, 911R, GT2 RS, etc. You do not want to mess around with customers whose networth probably in 8 to 9 figures.....

Interestingly, reading lot of the posts over on rennlist, many customers are very skeptical of Champion and feels the dealer may have been negligent at best or potentially conspiring at worst in this scam.
Lot of anger also over ADM that many of the P cars are being sold for above MSRP...which creates the environment for this kind of scam.
5-10k+ over sticker is not uncommon for GT3 cars, more for GT3 RS, and 100k++ mark up for GT 2 RS cars...

Unreal, I figured some markup, but definitely didn't expect it to react 6 figures.

Insane, for that money, I'd buy a McLaren.
But, I'm not the target demographic for any of those.

That doesn't mean they aren't greasy. Car sales is one of the greasiest businesses out there. Volume just means they know what they're doing

haha, fair point. You'd think the type of dealership that moves that many cars at those price points and with clients who are in the 0.1% and above will be all class in their dealings.
From the court document, that VP had a shenanigan before by taking 2 911R orders at markup but was only able to deliver one and then charged like insane markup on that one 911R that was delivered. And then it also said he has 10 kids and was behind on child support too.....

Yup. I was shocked when I read those posts. And I thought the 10-20k markups on the Focus RS/etc. were bad...yeah when you got rich dudes like that, people are going to pay.

My brother was in that dealership last Thursday getting a new fob and programed for his 993.
One of his friend's went along for the ride and knew the recently deceased owner.
Said the former owner was a good guy with his racing team, neither knew heard anything about this VP who took off with the money :thief:
The new and used price of the GT2/3 and R's are unreal. For that money I'd buy a mid-engine with aluminum or composite chassis McLaren, Huracan, 488GTB,...

Yup. Sexy AF. Welp, time to buy more lotto tickets.....
Honestly the 720S at about 300-350k is a damn bargain for the performance you get. Walking on everything except hypercars and very highly modded cars/supercars....
That "VP" should've been fired after his first 911R fiasco....poor management decision.

And that's why the dealership will have some liability in this. Even if they knew absolutely nothing and Shiraaz acted 100% on his own he messed up in the past with some shady deals and he was not terminated by the dealership. For some reason, they kept him on. I'm sure lawsuits will by flying the dealership's way shortly...
