Volvo S60R

Even compared to the TSX? I find the TSX brakes to be a little spongy for my taste, if the S60R is even worse that's scary. I have only seen a small handful of S60R's but have never driven one, I should go to a dealership and see if its as cool as I think it may be.

Volvo S60R are pretty rare in my area, I hardly see them on the road other then a guy that has a green one in my neighborhood which looks really nice.
BTW, I think Evolve has the hottest looking S60R out there

Now those are some sweet looking Volvos
I think the S60 is quit impressive. However, it's not as much of a drivers car as people might think. Steering feel is a little too numb thought power output is decent. Expect minor lag while spooling the turbo, but not too bad. Volvos have great potential for power.

Nice looking car, well that evolve at least, but the thing I remember most about it now, is that the tsx (well the Euro accord) lapped faster in a comparo that I'm sure a lot of people have seen by now which makes you think about how great it actually is off paper.
As far as commuting, drive it, if you like it, it will be a looker to drive around in with the right color, if you're looking for something to track etc it might be better to test drive a couple of cars against it.

I saw the S60R in the Evolve Blue at the New York Auto Show and I fell in love with it. It's a beautiful car, I'm definitely considering one for my next car in the 6-speed.
Is it true that the whole Evolve kit runs about $12-$15k?

Matt, I wouldn't be surprised if it is around 12-15K for the kit. They show alot of stuff, but dont have anything to sell for the consumers. Like for example the S40 awd one they have, how its pushin like 450-500ish hp, awd, and so on and so forth, yet none of the things they put on that S40 is one their shelves for sale or anything.
my friend has an S60R which rides gorgeously.....the brakes are fine...the look is sleak...the seats are built tilted to give it more of a racing feeling, the only thing is that the dash is disgusting and that goes for all volvos....volvos just ruin their cars with the interior center consoles its disgusting. but if i was spending 50k on a car i wouldn't spend it on tyhat...thats why they are so rare...
As some know I ordered an S60R right when they came out, it actually came in and I didn't take it.
Drove it at the Volvo event back when and once at the dealer.
The car is really nice and is certainly worth the money. They are priced well below the Audi S4, along with the discounts you can get on them now they are a good deal.
One thing that bothers me about the car is the turning circle, it sucks.......then again so did the Acura. And also the suspension, I wish the advanced setting was even firmer.
Volvo updated the interior a bit for 05 and also added body color moldings which I think looks better.

My last car was an 04 S60R. It was very nice except for the horrible flighty/twitchy/noisy suspension. The car has the adjustable suspension with three settings. It makes up to 500 calculations per second based on readings from 7 sensore thoughout the car. This equals complete bullshit. It either over compensated, or under compensated. It would modulate lond after you hit an iregularity road!! What a disaster. I wound up getting it lemon lawed after a year of suffering with the bogus suspension.
The car really shined in other areas though. Seats are hands down the best anywhere. I hate sitting in the TL's seats after coming from the Volvo. The Volvo was very fast, and the stereo is better than the TL. Plus they are rare, and look super hot inside and out!! Last but not least, AWD!!

The thing bad about Volvo (IMO) their options can get pricey.
If I had that kind of paper I'd go with a new WRX Sti. then a company called Xcceleration makes performance parts for WRXs
I'd take the extra money then go get a Race Stage 1
which includes:
1.a Unichip
2.Boost control mondule
3.Short Ram Intake
4.Intake Elbow
5.Headers and Uppipe
6.Intake Hose
7.larger fuel pump
8.3 inch turbo back
9.top mount intercooler
10. then the muffler (it's 4 inch)
11.Larger turbo
you'll be in the 500 HP range with this kit on a Sti.
it runs about 8 grand plus install.
BUT you can pull high 11s or low 12's in the 1/4 all day long.
