I came close to this where a disabled car was on the highway at night with no lights. I swerved...

They were lucky that they didn't get rear ended by a semi truck or a greyhound bus. Now that would've sucked!

Moral of the story: do not park your car/van on the freeway.

Does anyone know which freeway this is? I'm going to LA in a few weeks and I'll be sure to pay extra attention to parked vehicles on the road.

This is way too close to home -- 7 miles away, tops. It's the 405 West right before it intersects the 101 in the San Fernando Valley. At 5 pm, any given day, 3 miles in every direction here is a parking lot. What doesn't help is that the 101 South, approaching the 405-101 intersection, has big swoops going up and down, so on occasion, when you approach the apex of the swoop, there could be a car parked/stalled 20 ft. in front of you and you wouldn't know. There are boards up around there that say "WATCH THE FUCK OUT FOR SLOW MOVING/STOPPED VEHICLES OVER THIS CREST, ASSHOLE" but nobody pays any attention.

405 South you meant...

Yeah, I drive that shit every day to get to work, and I get off that second exit on that sign: Burbank Blvd. to be exact. We definitely have some douchebags driving around down here...

That reminds me of a section of the freeway here in Nor Cal that's like that. On I-880 south, between Fremont and Milpitas, there's a turn where there are frequently stalled/stopped cars right after it. Once I was going about 90 MPH before the turn, and couldn't see the completely stopped traffic ahead until it was too late. Had I not swerved to the shoulder (thank God there was one), I would've starred with the big boys @ bigboys.com.
