You would be suprised how quiet the cabin on the z06 can be if you not speed raceing it!

ERNIE........

Car insurance in NJ is a BIG facter..
Did you get a qoute on the m3 and z06?
its gonna be like $500 a month..
When I was buying my car my dad said he would go halves if I got a vette , untill he called insurance and they wanted $6500 a year..
Im kinda happy it didnt work out cuz the way I drive and my stupid mentality I would prolly not be here right now!

Yup I have 7 points also, I've figured in the ins. cost. The M is a shade under 500 so is the Z06. I pay 423 a month for the CLS right now. But no one now make this an insurance discussion please It's the cost of living in NJ and owning a nice car.

wow, how anyone would actually voluntarily pay that for insurance is beyond comprehension....im sooo pissed that i pay 200 a month, i used to pay 150 and it got jacked up after an accident a few years ago...but 500 bucks just for insurance? wow, you must have one hell of a job.....dude, get married, turn 25, have kids or SOMETHING!! sheesh, thats just insane. but again, how anyone would voluntarily throw that money away is insane....500 bucks a month....6000 a year!! 6000 would give you a few LUXURY vacations a year....or a new crotch rocket, or a wave runner or something....or save that for a few years and buy a damn house....wow, i cant get over it....if my insurance goes up any more, my CL-S is going bye bye....i wont throw my money away like that....

Agreed! As much as I love the M3 I might have to pick the Z0SIC! Normally I would pick the M3 over anything. But the Z06 is not your ordinary GM...it runs mid to low 12's stock and handles like it's on rails! The Z06 is without a doubt the best bang for the buck sports car in the world.

if you put 500 bucks a month into an IRA or something for like 20 years, youd be a fucking millionare in no time....unreal how some people are so quick to just flush that potential net worth down the drain for a cool car...

i lived in NY for last 3 years and was working in manhattan during that time....i moved back to wisconsin in may of this year dont get me wrong, i love NYC and i feel it will always be a part of my life as i have alot of freinds out there and i was in the city on 9-11 and went through alot during that time, but living close to the city isnt worth 500 bucks a month on car insurance...i lived in westchester and wasnt paying anywhere near that so i dont get the draw to NJ...move to conn. or westchester or something....its much cheaper there. with the extra money youd save on insurance if you lived somewhere else, you could fuck the M3 and get an M5 or a porche 911 or something like that...also, dont think im just some naive dude from the middle of nowhere...while it does pale next to NYC, milwaukee isnt a small town either and has much culture and activities to make it a great place to live

Washington DC just recently beat NJ out for the highest Insurance, not NYC or NY state. I'm not dissin Wisconson at all buddy. I have 7 points, a total of almost 30 DMV points against me through the ownership of what will be my 4th car, the M or Z06. NJ is the densest state of people per square mile. It's crowded and insurance sucks. If I'm paying 423 for a CLS 500 for an M is not bad at all.

personally if I had to pick between the 2 I'd take the M3 cause I don't like soft tops that much. Plus you can't get much more pimp than a M3 the ZO6 is alright just I haven't been much fan of american motor company. but if live where it's a little slippery get a beater or something you don't care if you get snow or bump someone in cause if I wrecked a M3 i'd be crying for sure:P

Alright boys and girls, just my insurance premium for six months for the Z06 vs the M3 and here are the results:

12 month premium for M3: $6212.24 or $517 a month

12 month premium for Z06: $8615.72 or 717.83 a month

12 month premium for reg. Vette: $7654.60 or $637 a month

12 month current premium for CLS: $5076.00 or $423 a month

Order for the M3 stays for now.

Can someone post an argument without insulting someone else. Just because you think your right doesn't mean you have to be an ass about it.

It's ALL opinions. If we all thought the same, life would be boring. We'd all be thinking the same chit, wearing the same clothes, drving the same cars.... doing the same jobs, art would be non existant.... and conversation would be dull to say the least.

Accept peoples differences and opinions without insulting them. geeze.

Not too add another car into the equation here.

But in all honesty I think I'd purchase this over both of them...

Inline 6cyl TVR

I think this is the best bang for your buck now. But who knows where you'd get this serviced...

That TVR is suppose to be $50k Also faster and out handles both of them...

Sorry for the off-topic post, but just my .02c

The question is what car do you find yourself staring at the most. Will you be staring at the M3 while driving a Vette or staring at a Vette while driving a M3. I love my CL but still finding myself staring at the Vette.

I drove a 325i from Baltimore to Norwalk, CT this weekend and it was the nicest driving experience I've ever had.

Personally, I don't need the HP of either the M3 or the Z06. I like the looks of both cars, but the Z06 is too claustraphobic for me. I'd take the M3 because I know that the letters "BMW" are a great weapon against depreciation ... =)

Vettes are great cars, I just wouldn't be comfortable in one.

it's amusing and ridiculous how irate people can get when discussing two cars. what happened to liking great cars no matter where they are from or who makes them? an awesome car is an awesom car. yes each car has its own advantages and issues (albeit very minor when discussing cars of this calibur) but to get so mad about these things is really funny.

Personally, I wouldn't get the Z-06 because it doesn't have the luxury features as the normal vette. Therefore, I would get a new 50th anniversary 2003 Vette Convertible with adjustible magnet sensing suspension, 6 speed manual, HUD, dual climate control and power everything. Then, I would slap a supercharger and that puppy!

The M3 is nice but after owning a Camaro SS, I love the roar of a pissed of V-8.

Dude, if you talking about the post I did on the TVR you have no idea what your saying...

That TVR runs the 1/4 mile in the 11's

LOL, more like the Z06 can't touch the TVR.... hehe. That TVR would spank the Z06 in all sport areas. Handling/Speed/Agility/Acceleration

anyway, back to the original topic....

Holy fockin' frickity frackin' fudge....

That's just insane... I quoted myself for an M5 (have Progressive) and my premium increased 800 dollars a year. And that's KEEPING CL as my other car and ditching the wife's alero for the M.

Helps if you're married, but crap!!! That's just outragious. And yes, I live in a very high insurance premium area. Lake Country, Indiana is basically considered part of Chicago...

So what's his insurance gonna change to, $490? 7 points is 7 points and it aint gonna be cheap for him anywhere unless he uses one of those shady as-seen-on-TV car insurance places or something. So please don't act like it's $500 he suddenly wouldn't have to pay if he lived somewhere else.

Well, Im going to look at the C32 AMG I think that is the only other car I should consider at this point. It's nice and the same price (relatively). The Z06 is out of reach as far as INS. goes and nothing else seems to be in this price range / performance needs. Thanks for all the awesome feeback and I respect ANY Z06 I see.

Prepare to be MAJORLY disappointed!!!! I was SO hyped about the c32 AMG and then I sat in the car at the Philly Auto Show. The interior is smaller than a 3 series. Even the seating area in the rear was small for a 4 door. Ugh. I know the car is AMG tuned etc., but man.....i've sat in a few m3's and an m5 and even they were pretty comfortable.

I did, and NEW S4's are hard to come by nowadays. Plus I don't like all the options in the car and I liked the looks of the M ALOT more.

IMHO stay away from Benz and Audi. Too much maintenance hassles - Benz with quality and durability, Audi with the turbos.

Also the price premiums on ANYTHING German would keep me from buying anything except maybe an M3 since it's such a sweet car. The rest of their line-ups can kiss my butt for the stupid options pricing and premiums on the MSRPs. Paying for a name is something I hope to never do when it comes to cars.

What are you talking about??? Audi and Mercedes Benz are very well built cars, probably among the most solid built cars on the road along with BMW. It is a misconception that German cars are poor quality.
