versus: 2nd Gen TL & 2004 G35

Was the first car (middle lane of 3 lanes) at the light coming home from work last night... looked around and saw a black 2004 G35 sedan on my right and a white 2nd Gen TL on my left. I got the "it's go time" nod from both cars. Then...

Green light.... not even close. The G35 kept up for the first hundred feet... but then... no contest after that. Don't really know what happened to the 2nd Gen. Oh well... It was a good, clean race especially when considering that mine is an automatic. The front tires were firm and had solid contact with pavement!

Your first post so I will explain that all threads of this type (commonly called "vs" threads) go in the Cars & Bikes forum. And why did you post your 2G TL in the 3G TL forum? Not that we don't want your business, but 2G people might also be interested.

Moving now.

Auto vs auto in a standing start short sprint, my 02 Maxima will rip a new one on the TL (so long as I get traction). The G35S 5AT should at least do likewise.

A kill's a kill though.

A street race could go either way. Hell I've seen an E46 M3 SMG beat a ‘02 Z06 on the street, but we all know the Z06 will rip the M3 apart. So don't expect to beat every G35 out there you come across especially with an auto TL.

man...I have not posted on this site for a long time, but this one caught my attention.

I have a so called "2nd Gen" CL-S, and a G35 sedan. I have had my CL for 4 years now and my G35 for 2.5 years. I have driven the heck out of both cars, my conclusion.....from "the hole" or standing still, or even 5mph roll, G35 will win.... plain and simple...

from a rolling start in 3rd, the CL-S will get a good jump and it will take a nice lead, however don't let 4th come by, then its over for the CL-S.

My point is that, the guy on the G35 was not crazy enough to prove his point and let OFF the gas. Going past 60 mph on a surface street is not worth getting a ticket or sacrificing your life.

I still love the J32 engine over the VQ, but the lack of torque and the lack of RWD configuration will keep ACURA from getting my business again. But then again, if AWD would become available on the TSX or TL, while keeping the weight down, it would be hard to beat it as far as the total package. Personally, 0-60, or .25 miles times are not everything... its needs to brake well, handle well and ride well.

just my .02 cents....
