I love both cars, but you've already had a BMW and I think you may be happier with the M3. You could S/C the G35 and throw in a Borla or Stillen Exhaust and be very, very happy though. In the end, it's up to you.

I'd say G35. The aftermarket is really coming alive now for the VQ35DE.
Now or available by year's end:
  • Two types of superchargers
  • ECU reflash
  • Turbocharger
  • Hotshot Headers (these add 21hp to the Altima, and that's the version with the cat)
  • intake
  • exhaust

The fact that Nissan uses the same engine in so many models is really helping a lot; vendors can develop a basic system and then modify it to the application. The Z market is huge in Japan; lots of residual benefit as a result. Furthermore, pretty much anything that works on the Z you can guarantee will work on the G35, or that a G35 version will be coming real-soon-now (it's a bit different for the Altima/Maxima, as the layout of the cars dictate more changes be made, particularly in the case of forced induction).

i think another important question is how the fuck are you going to get insurance on yet ANOTHER expensive, luxury sports car??? after the stunt you pulled with the 330, i doubt youll even get coverage, it was totally your fault and totally reckless!! good luck getting insurance, and even if you get insurance somehow, good lord, its going to be double or more what you are paying now. you must really wanna live at home wiht mom and dad forever!!!

j, m3 and g35 shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath.

G35 is going to have a shitty resale value like all infiniti's, plus it has the WORST fuggin interior on the planet.

That car will be TOTALLY out of style in a year. Guarantee it.

Stick with BMW, and go for an //M3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would forget about the used M3 and get yourself a real performance car.....A Z06. I know your a snob, but the Z06 interior is quite nice, and thats coming from someone who is accustomed to top of the line german cars. My buddy has a Imola E46 M3 and its a great vehicle, but its performance is lacking compared to the competition.

BTW....If you do get one of those cars, invest in a driving school. Almost every weekend there is a HPDE at Gingerman for ~100. You will really learn how to control your car and drive it like its meant to be driven

Are you kdding with the above comments?

What car is the M3 lacking against?

A Z06 is a 2 seat impractical V8 powered sports car, it is in a completely different category than the cars mentioned in this thread.

On the G35C, sorry for $36-$37k.....I would sooner get something else.

The M3 has no torque you have to squeeze the power out the thing while the new V8 and V10 will eat it up for breakfast.
Stop comparing $80k-$85k super sedans against a car costing $29k less (base price E55 to a base price M3).

The next M3 is going to have 400+hp.

Anyway, the M3 still enough power to rip your CLK430 a new asshole.

i'd have to say used m3. that is one car that will hold it's value like no other...save a last gen turbo supra. I love the g35 but i adore the m3.

yah i know you guys thought i'd say get the nissan lol.

as for the m3 being low on power/tq...that's just rediculous.

I wasn't kidding. I consider a M3 impractical because it truely ISN'T a four passenger vehicle. It does have 4 seats, but they are only usable for children. I am 6'2" and I wouldn't think of riding in the back of my brothers M3. A used M3 is in the same price category as a Z06, thats why I compared it.

id like to see anyone tell me that the point i brought up is not valid!!!

you CANT!!

the guy lives at home with mom and dad, buys these expensive cars, crashes them, and gets another, even more expensive car. how is one supposed to ever start an independant life while playing these foolish games with cars?? shit, im the only one with some sense who sees shit for what it is, im the only one trying to do the guy a favor and see that someone in his position should be thinking more about finally getting out from underneath mom and dad and start a real life.

No Jim, regardless of what you feel it is sometimes better just to turn the other cheek. Some people here might agree with what you are saying and feel the same way but you are not going to change someone's mind on this forum so there is no point in trying.

Just save the energy for something more useful.

Jim; He asked for an opinion on which car to get, not your opinion on his lifestyle. just admit you're trying to cause trouble.

I understand what you're saying, but you did state your opinion on page 2. Nothing good was going to come of saying it again.

If the insurance is too high, he'll deal with it or pass on the car.

Having a $35k car, will not prevent someone from moving out of their parents place in the near future. Sure if the insurance is $7k a year maybe, but let's see what happens.

The M3 is no less practial than our CL.
I have two kids and my CL is fine for all four of my family members.
Granted my kids are young.
We take my wifes Volvo V70 wagon when we need the space for extra cargo.
By the way, I'd take the M3 over the vette as well.
Other than being fast, the vette doesn't offer much else in my opinion.

This was a simple question originlly posted by Jesal, not a question on how Jesal lives his life, sould live his life, etc...

Lets stick 2 the topic on hand...some of the comments made by some of the members here reveal an insight into who they really are....and not necessarily good ones

It all depends on the condition of the used M3. Say if I found one from some old doctor guys or grandpa, I would buy it in a heart beat. Otherwise, I go for the brand new Z.

I'd pick the ///M3, but I'd be weary of buying a used car like that. But since you probably know what to look for, then go for it.

Be sure to let us know how everything goes.

I know I am going to get slammed

Have you considered the new Pontiac GTO? I think it retails for about $33K. 350 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque. On paper the car looks impressive.
