The only reason I can think of to have a cop car that fast is to catch bad guys that usually run. If that is the finished product he certainly is not planning on ramming anyone. He's certainly not a traffic cop. His department has money. I'm thinking DEA.
That would be rather intimidating in the rear view for sure.

.... to associate with "import culture"/"car culture" people.
.... to associate with criminal elements that drive expensive cars (eg., drug dealers)
.... to work with kids that impressionable and/or at risk and think fast cars are cool (i.e. an "ice breaker").
.... to work undercover and have some particular version of "street cred".
etc., etc.

Awseome install but I'm thinking this is more of a Volunteer Fire/Rescue guy who had money to burn and wanted to hook up his Personal Vehicle.
The only other possibility is a Federal Agent with money. I some federal LE agencies actually allow Agents to use their personal vehicles for work and/or assign them confiscated vehicles. They are then given a a few bucks to install lights on the vehicle as they please. Mostly DEA/ATF.
Seeing as how the location is Northern VA (Wash DC has lots of feds obviously) this is also plausible. The Red/Blue combo is also the standard for feds.
I may be a bit off on the facts but i'm sure i'm pretty close
Nice Job.

Indiana State Police drive unmarked Mustang GTs...suppose anything is possible. Like others said though, looks more like a personal vehicle that he just had the lights installed in.

Here in KC some cops drive around in seized vehicles done up in police guise. I saw an SVT focus one time with a body kit and was about to "race" it when I saw the KCMO sticker on the side. Also they drive brand new undercover F250's, those arent fun!

thats a good way to get arrested and have the car rust in the impound lot if he was not a COP....
now if he was a cop/detective and I every get pulled over by him, I will smilingly accept the ticket LOL or ask him to arrest me so that I can ride in the GTR LOL...

I wouldn't be able to take it seriously if it pulled up on me flashing those lights. I'd prob think it was some jackass who put lights on their car and def not a cop. They'd have to call in back up before I'd pull over for that.

I saw an umarked ford taurus, or atleast i think that's what it was. Only giveaway was the silver NC tag and the led lightstrip that i noticed. I considered giving him the thumbsup, so he would know that i knew what was up haha.

Bad assed GTR. Nice job, OP! Good thing the po-po around here can't afford that stuff, and they sell the confiscated hi-po cars they get. I mean, it's the middle of a recession and all...
