Car looks good. And you're buying your audio set up from Crutchfield. They always have the right harness and advice. Those guys are great.

Irritating thing is they said they would ship yesterday snd it would come Monday, my one day a week in the office, so I took a 3.00 discount and Thursday delivery & it shipped today & won't come until Friday.

Nameless makes quality stuff, nice score!
Header + tune get this car to where it should be, stock.
Drove my friend's car with a JRSC running on E85 a while back, that is really ideal IMO. The platform really shines when you get it closer to 300whp.

Just went for a ride to the UPS store & to drive because I want to drive. I took a corner, now that I am more comfortable with the car and gave the right amount of gas & the back came right around perfectly and it hit me, balance, the car is the first since my '72 2002Tii that feels balanced.
I think I'm gonna like this!

Screw the supercharger, I think you should go straight for the LS swap.

First two upgrades you do if you wanna track it though are brake pads and an engine oil cooler.
Then find a reputable track day organizer who cares prioritizes safety.
The engines are lighter than you think! LS-based ones anyway.
Love this dude's build, he swapped an LS3 into his BRZ and added a dry sump system. Only 100 lbs heavier. He's at the same F/R distribution as stock, not sure about cross weight.

No traction?
That's what is so great about this chassis. It was my first track car ever, and I was very, very comfortable discovering its limits. It's extremely satisfying to drive hard. Highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend it.

I skimmed that thread as it is looooooooong, but there is a maxim in there that my untrained ass has always agreed with. There are always pitfalls with adding F/I to a vehicle that wasn't designed with it in mind from the factory.
I've heard of Vorshlag back then, and IMO they are inherently biased as they sell LSx swap kits. As you already know, it is a huge undertaking. I don't necessarily disagree with them either.
On the street though, having all that power down low is just silly. Ideally you would have AWD or mid/rear engine placement to get better traction. Or amazing stability control aides to manage it all.
Another maxim I always believed in was "it's funner to drive a slow car fast, than the other way around". Again, I say take it to the track, especially stock or close to that power.
Allllll that said, I also have owned an LSx-powered vehicle before and they really are a blast. Ultimately, for the twins I think a supercharger is the best compromise given the relative ease, affordability, and amount of heat it puts out compared to a turbo.
Did I mention track days yet?

I enjoyed the thread up to the part where they hammered away at the turbo & brought up the 12.1 compression. I did not realize that. I spent over 12k building my 350z with forged internals, custom JE 11.1 pistons stroker Crower crank yada yada cams, ARP, bla bla, it made great power until it blew a hole in a piston & I sold the motor for 3500 & put an eBay motor in and traded the Z in literally the day I got it running (in my garage in Az summer heat MYSELF)
Not interested in recreating that summer anytme soon.
Nau I'm a skeered.
Maybe I should take Doms advice, but seeing as there's no hockey where does that leave me???

I'm a part of 86CUP in California and a ton of my friends track these cars at the tracks 12-14 times a year. It's a fantastic car to drive with a minimal mods. And it is actually VERY capable car. Just a stock car with oil cooler, brake pads and fluid, better tires and alignment can be very fast with the right hands. And the car takes the beating at the track very well.
Header+Flex Fuel tune is all you need to really wake up the car.
A ton of turbo and supercharging options for the car. Below 300whp is a good place to be without breaking the bank.
But really, the car just needs better brake pads and fluid and tires. I kind want another one.

Hello, I just got a stock '17 86 and am looking for help getting more power. I had a 2010 Tundra and have a tactrix cable from my Orange Virus tune that works on the 86 in Techstream. Do you offer a tune that can be done via PC?
I got a Nameless header last week, and have an Injen Evolution CAI coming Thursday.
I'm going to buy a hybrid Vortech SC that has a boost controller and Tial 50mm wastegate from (name edited for privacy), he had on his 2013 and you did the tune. Can I get a a tune and then later after the install a new tune?
Thank you,
Stefan

Curious, have you driven an S2000?
I have always heard it was similar (although less daily friendly, obvi)
but with the right amount of power.
Plus, let's face it...everyone says UNDERPOWERED...
if you'd have driven my 1991 civic hatch dx you might feel otherwise.

I had a B-210 Datsun Hatchback in Highschool. THAT was slow!
I lived up a steep hill, floored it was lucky to do 20, always reminded me of being on a rollercoaster while it was click click clicking up to the first drop.

I had a friend in HS, he was a character. Every time he got in my car he said if we get in an accident he is getting paid. Never happened in my car. He got a turbo VW Golf that was very modded. We both lived in the canyons above L.A. I lived 1/2 mile from Mulholland. We went from my house on Beverly Glen going to his off Coldwater Canyon, he gave it gas, torque steer took us head on into a 70's BMW CS. I hurt my knee and his insurance refused to pay my medical bills.
We stopped being friends because he said I sued him. I had to get a lawyer to force his insurance to pay my bills. I think I ended up with 900 bucks over the bills.

I don't think either of those can touch my first car.

64hp when new & mine had 300k on the clock when I got it. Hindsight, a perfect car for a 16 yr old, 0-60 happened in....maybe. (I think the official figure was 12.6 sec when new).

Really no need to rush like you said. I tracked my BRZ with zero engine modification, just suspension and brakes and tires.
If you want to shop around for the tune, the best tuning for FT86 platform is at CounterSpace Garage via Zack Tucker. He was the one who was at Delicious Tuning for 3 years doing the tune for all 86/BRZs including a lot of race cars.
S2K is a better, faster car. It's really one of the best cars ever driving standpoint. It's a lot more sensitive to drivers input and the engine is so much more robust than FA20 in 86/BRZ.
86/BRZ needs a header plus E85 tune to really get closer to S2K in terms of power. 86/BRZ is a lot more balanced and has better aero stock to stock. And 86/BRZ is 8600 times more practical than S2K.
If one can have two cars, S2K plus daily should be the choice. If one can have only one car, 86/BRZ is the best daily-able track car.

My dad had a couple B-210s & a super clean (when he was done with it) 510.
His last B-210 was set up for the track (but still street legal). I remember him telling me about following a Porsche on the highway (probably in around 1981) at around 120-130mph, then the 911 decided it didn't want to be followed anymore & pulled away like he was at a stop sign (I'm guessing it was probably a 930).

CSG Mike has mentioned Thunderhill (my "home" road course) is more of an aero-oriented track. With E85, header, and an OTS tune I have had no problem reeling in S2000s. Passing them is a bit harder, lol. I don't know how they were all modified but some sounded like they had test pipes? They were loud af. I wouldn't even say I'm that good of a driver. Given my low amount of seat time and compared to others with similar experience, I'm probably juuust above average.
The daily part was huge for me. I'm almost certain if I went with an S2000 and it was my primary car, I wouldn't still have it today. Honda theft is a huge problem here too. I'm traumatized from when my stock-looking Integra was broken into and cleaned out.

I think my last post might come off a little harsh. I love the S2000. Absolutely perfect 2nd car. Top down motoring is great, especially if you live in an area with nice weather. Everybody should put one through its paces at least once.
Just as a daily, no. I know a guy at work who has dailied his supercharged AP2 for years. Having a hardtop 24/7 helps, maybe. Even stock it was too loud for me on the freeway.
