TSX - is it worth it?

Just test drove both 6spd and auto. My wife is comparing between TL and TSX.

The 6spd TSX I drove was pretty sensitive compare to CL (may be it's lighter and drive-by-wire??), but it's slower and a bit too much body roll.

Interior is relatively small but amenities are much prettier and smarter than TL.

With sticker of $26990 on the TSX, I am still thinking to get a TLP (V6 225hp) i/o TSX (I4 200hp).

What you guys think?

I view them as two different categories of vehicle.

If you want a nimble car to zip around town then get the TSX.

If you need the space or want a smooth highway cruiser, get the TLP or TLS.

To be honest, for a zip zip car, I think the Mazda Protege is looking pretty hot.

Maybe you should just wait for the new TL.

Any one else notice how similar the TSX looks to the Mazda 6? From some angles, they look damn near identical.

I'd go TL.

My theory is "once you own a V-6, you don't return to a loud 4 banger"......

And I would love to agree. I went from my first car, an I-6, to my next three cars all I-4s. Granted if honda had put manual trannys in there 6th gen V6 accords or the 3.0's i would have found one of those. Just couldnt afford a new 6spd V6 right now. Only times I truly am dying for a v6 or larger is on the highway where every one in la is a dumb bastard in a car.

At $27k I think it's a little high, if you can wait for it to come down to $25k I think it's a good value considering the content.

I've driven the Mazda 6 V6 5 speed and the engine probably isn't much (if any) improvement over the K24. Plus, the TSX has a much nicer interior and better chassis refinement (not to mention resale.)

4 bangers rule

I would definitely drive the Evo even though it is a 4 banger. The new STi will also be a four banger and will toast almost any of the sixes.

Go TL it's a bigger car and if she does a lot of highway driving it would be a better choice. I think she would be safer in it since its a bigger vehicle. I just get scared getting in small cars with all the big trucks and hummers and stuff running around...

I DON'T WANT TO DIE IN A SARDINE CAN!!

Holy crap dude, the TSX isn't that much smaller...not like it's a sub-compact anyway. I have a feeling the TSX would hold up just as well as a TL if it were hit by a hummer. I would look at crash test results on the thing before jumping to too many conclusions about it.

Anyway, yeah, it's all a matter of what you (and your wife) want in a car. A spunky, nimble, fun to drive car. Or a more powerful cruiser. If you can wait long enough, I'd see what the next TL has in store. It's my contention that one would want to go upscale if they can afford it. I think the TSX is positioned for those who can't afford a TL (especially when the TL is supposed to go up in price, or so I've heard.)

For me, i will take the TL over the TSX, first the car itself dun worth 27k(no discount, unless if you want to get it til like august or something) , and according to my dealer, add another 500 bucks then u can get a TL............. Second, TL is a V6 and TSX is just I4........ Third, TL is higher class then the TSX. Forth, I actually went test drive the TSX yesterday, i find out that it dun have the memory sit and the bak up side mirror slide down. Fifth, the leg room for the TSX is way too small compare to the TL. SIxth, the TSX got less torque then the TL, since the engine is smaller!

But the good side of the TSX is that it's NEW! 2004........ and for the gas milage, the TSX is gonna beat the TL for sure, it also got batter handleing then the TL. And it comes with 17in' rims, the TL is only 16" unless you are getting the Type S then there comes the 17in". And one last thing, it got the 2nd gen Vtec the "iVtec"

well but still, for me! i will take the TL over TSX!! at least you are getting a V6!!!! Or if you not in a hurry, wait for the 2004 TL.

I have been interested in a CL-S 6 speed for some time, but wanted to wait until the TSX came out to see how I liked it. I finally drove a CL yesterday, and my wife and I both loved the power and the comfort of the interior. We then drove the TSX 6 speed; it was nice, but after driving the CL, we realized that it isn't in the same class. The engine isn't as smooth, and has the 4 banger whine. The interior is great, but thr ride isn't as firm as the CL. We were told that the dealership had two left in stock, and had 50 people on a waiting list. For what they are charging for the TSX, I'd see if you could deal on a TL. The cost difference might not be that great considering how much more car you get. We are probably going to end up with the CL.
