TSX replacement

Hi,

just thinking about my next ride. I have an '04 TSX (MT) that I bought in June of '03. It's been near p[erfect and a lot of fun. The only complaint I have is the common one. not enough power. I knew it when I bought it and have dealt with it for 4 yrs. I'm ready for more low-end torque. came from a Maxima. My next car...........perhaps the 2008 SAAB 9-3 Areo XWD. It's pretty sweet. The downside is low MPG. Any thoughts?

You're gonna' replace a perfectly good Honda for a troublesome GM? Have fun.

Not my bag but if you like it, go for it. I'd never but to each his own.

Ummm... better drive that 9-3 Aero before buying-- it may even be slower than the TSX manual.

Second that. I remember being very dissapointed with the 2.8 turbo came out a few years ago and it was still 0-60 in the 7 second range!

on another note 2 hours and counting until I go pick up my new audi tt 2.0t to replace my tsx.

Have you driven the RDX yet? I got it for a day as a loaner... OMG, I love it!

There are a few things that annoy me about the RDX (e.g. the navi screen is nowhere as nice as the TSX, the front grille styling etc.) but its performance is great.

Now that I have my TSX back, I really start to miss the RDX.... but not the gas mileage though! LOL

Saabs aren't going to satisfy your need for low-end power....not in the least. For the price of a 9-3 Aero, there are much better choices.

What about a Subaru Legacy? I have no idea how fast they are, but I sat in an '05 the other day and I was surprised. I liked it. I didn't get to drive it, though.

2009 Nissan GT-R perhaps? That should have enough torque for ya.

No Saab recommended. If you're looking for fun it's still the same choices; Infiniti G35,IS350, 335i,CTS or wait for the next generation TL. The new Accord V6 looks pretty good right now as well, maybe it's still the new car hype, but looks gorgeous if you still want FWD. Good luck with whichever you choose!

I'd wait and see what the next TL and TSX are going to be like assuming you want a 4dr and a brand new car.

Hi again,

OP here. Been away for awhile. Thanks for your thoughts but i think some of you are not aware of what the 9-3 Aero XWD is about to be. Check out these links and let me know. I love my TSX by the way. I just wish it had more power, AWD, and has to be available with a manual tranny. G35,IS350, etc are nice but don't meet my criteria. 335xi, A4/S4, legacy GT, mazdaspeed 6 all do, but each has some things I don't like. Thus I kept looking and found out about this car. Not released yet, but has my interest. And for those who think it will be slow, no way. 280HP/250-260 ftlbs torque in a car that weighs a few hundred pounds more than the TSX means we'll all be watching the rear end of this one.

280hp/250-260lb-ft is not enough to outrun Saab's depreciation.

I think the moral of the story is the current gen turbo 2.8 250hp should have been faster than the TSX but it wasn't... which is very sad. I think that's why everyone is saying wait for it to come out and get evaluated by some magazines for drag times and take it for a spin yourself. Saab has a way of disappointing enthusiasts.

I'd stick with the TSX...almost bullet proof from what I have read.

Actually it does sound quite attractive. It actually has 295lb/ft of torque. And its AWD system is the newest 4th gen Haldex system which is similar to SH-AWD. If you really like this car, then go for it. How much does it weigh though as the 9-3 sport hatch aero is already 1570kg (3454lbs), i would imagine the extra XWD system to add 150-200lbs (or 3600lbs+).

I'd hold out till spring and see what the 09 TSX has in store. There is talk of a Type S model with the RDX engine and SH-AWD.

I'm actually in no rush, just enjoy reading and thinking about cars. Nobody like that around here, right? Anyway, I've been eagerly awaiting the next TSX but have read that the Type-S that may appear will only have an automatic tranny. That's a deal breaker for me. I hope they offer the higher performance TSX with a MT, but if not, I'll be looking elsewhere. That's why I'm following the rollout of the 9-3XWD. I'll wait for mag reviews then do a test drive. Again, no rush, just enjoying the process.

Don't go with Saab. That's just depreciation calling you big time.

I had a TSX before and I stepped it up to a Infiniti G Coupe. Love the upgrade! You may want to consider a new Infiniti G35X Sedan if you want to stick with a sedan, but with more power.

I went from a 04 TSX(6MT) to a 07 G35x, the X is not available with a manual, but I haven't really minded, the manual in the G's isn't that good. If your interested shoot me a PM I am thinking about selling the G

I was in the market for a new car for well over a year before I picked the TT 2.0t!
