Thumbs down TSX impressions from my friends, relatives, and coworkers

On Friday night I went to a family picnic yesterday and a family reunion of sorts. Then Saturday I went to see friends from high school/college, and lastly yesterday I went out with a few coworkers.

Each time they saw the TSX and said cool car, is that an equivalent of a Civic? In all 3 instances they never believed me that it was an Accord, not even a Euro/JDM Accord because of the size and narrowness of the car and the taillights they said looked like from a Civic. I know a lot of you are Civic fans, but I've always loved Accords more since my previous 2 cars were the 3rd and 6th gen Accord.

I still like my car, but if it continues to be looked at as a luxury civic by the normal person due to the styling I will still keep the car maybe only because I can't afford a new car yet. I'm just nitpicking as to why didn't they make the TSX/Euro Accord a bit wider and longer to look like the 5th-6th gen US Accord or not make the Euro Accord look a bit close to the US Civic.

I can see why they thought it looked like a Civic only because of the same taillights look when both are illuminated they have the same circular shape and the width of both cars are alike, but that's it

2005 TSX look vs 2005 Civic look

I think size and the fact that it's got a 4 banger makes it easy to compare to a civic. Anyone who isn't an Acurazine member won't know wtf an euroaccord is.

This is like 2004 all over again... It was easy to troll the TSX forum... all you had to do was mention "you tsx guys with your pimped out civics" and the members over there would freak out

To my eye the TSX looks about as much like a Civic as the Civic looks like a Hyundai. I stopped worrying/caring about other people's car comments about 40 years ago when I realized that the average adult knows less about car details than a typical 10yo car enthusiast. To a lot of people all cars look about the same ...4 wheels, headlights, taillights, some doors and windows.

They don't look anything alike IMO. I'm not bothered. If people can't see the differences, then I think they're blind.

I agree. I see some Cvic in the TSX, no Accord whatsoever. But the Civic appears to be a much smaller car IMO.

TSX vs Civic

Length
183.5 vs 176.7

Width
69.4 vs 69.0

Height
57.3 vs 56.5

The Accord looks like the RL but doesnt mean the RL is cheap or a bad car.

Yeah I knew that, but that's why I explained to them that it's a Euro Accord

No offense to Civic drivers, but if someone had said to me, "Nice Civic" when I had my TSX, I would of taken my white gloves off and smacked them with it. Something about someone saying that it looks like a Civic angers me. I mean, its a solid $10,000 difference!

No need to smack them.....just ask them if they can read!!

That said, I rarely talk cars with people who know little or nothing about them.

Since im debadged, I get a "Hey, nice TL" every-so-often. Better then "Nice Civic", but it still bugs

Yeah my family thinks all Honda/Acuras look alike remember this thread I started before when my uncle thought the TSX looked just like the 6th gen Accord? He thought I never changed cars.

That is what i get as well. I have yet to get a civic comment though, which would def piss me off a little.

For the most part, i honestly don't care what people think. I like my TSX and that is why i bought it!

I think it's just the physical size that makes it "civic like". Exterior and interior Styling wise, The two are vastly different in my opinion.

I was lucky enough to get a TSX as a loaner when my 99TL got a timing belt change. I fould the car alright. No complaints other then the lack of torque vs my TL.

Even if the Civic and TSX look similar, it would make sense if you look at it in the Honda lineup in other parts of the world (Japan, Euro, etc). It's just a step difference in the lineup, Civic vs Accord, so some family resemblance is normal.

Not that I think they look similar, except of the four round taillights and the rear bumper from a 3/4 view...

Doesn't really bother me that much anyway...

Same here. My sister pointed at a TL parked next door and asked if that was my car. They look extremely similar, especially from the front and side. Never been confused with a Civic though.

When the 3G TL first came out, I had some trouble distinguishing it from the TSX... the TSX looks like the TL's baby brother...

I've overheard a 2G TL owner call my CLS a RSX before He's only a VP here at work, so he's probably not the sharpest tool in the shed

You have to understand in America, everything is made bigger.....
it's made bigger because people are fatter and the roads are wider......
However, the accord in Europe and cars in general are much smaller when compared to cars in the U.S.
The TSX does look like a civic, when I first saw a TSX, I thought to myself "it looks like the civic lol..."
You should have gotten a TL....

Keep TSX, dump your ex-friends. Btw, TSX is exactly the same size as '95 Accord (USDM).

Is it really? I liked that Accord the 94 and 95 it was pretty sporty. Then it got wider in 96 and 97.

So, I suspect the next TSX to be the same size as the USDM 6th gen Accord 98-02.

when you said everything in America is made bigger I think of the movie Supersize Me.

i was just pondering if the TSX is the Accord in Europe and Japan and that seems kind of small in the US market, how big is the Euro and JDM Civic then?
