I just took a Brabus CL65 (730hp) for a run and video'd the speedo for a few seconds. Can anyone help me post?

 

Is the video hosted on YouTube? You're copying the actual "embed code" correct?

 

I haven't gotten that far yet. I took it with the cell. Sent it to my e-mail. Saved it on the desktop and opens with Media Player. I normally use webshots but didn't even think about Youtube...if I can remember my password.

 

Am I missing anything?

Got it. I just made it real quick to show someone the difference in acceleration once it's heatsoaked. This is the heatsoaked vid, I have to take it out tomorrow when it's cold to show how it normally runs. This is a car that normally has the traction control flashing through 65mph. I cut it short because I wasn't sure if that was a cop in front of me. From the way it pulls from 60-80, it continues just about that hard past 140mph. It's not slow in this video but it pulls about as hard as a normal CL600 that's not heat soaked. I could've made it look faster if I powerbraked it and built up boost on the brakes and stayed in it past 75mph but that really wasn't the point of the video. I'll get some good ones tomorrow if anyone wants them.

It usually climbs much better. The fact that I can drive with one hand while filming with my cell shows how slow it was running. Usually it's a handfull. Doen't do what 700hp should do but I'll make one of the quicker vids tomorrow. I may even take it to Acurafest but not sure yet. It's my ex's car so things can change quickly.

Yep. A Brabus. I know the engine has been out, I think it was bored/stroked to 6+litres, larger turbos and intercoolers, and some other mods that I'm not sure about. It shifts harder than the other CLs too. The larger turbos and intecoolers did nothing to combat the heat soak. It's worse than the TL. If I remember right, when she bought the car a couple years ago it dyno'd in the low 600hp range and nearly 800lbs of torque. It's too bad it weighs so much. It makes the same hp as my GN yet I leave it like it's standing still.

 

AH yes it is a Mercedes.. I had one of the V12 biturbo Mercedes blow the doors off of my girlfriends 3000GT one day on the interstate, thing was BADASS. But it was a 4 door?

Now that I think about it, I can't remember if Brabus takes the ordinary CL600 to modify or the 65. The only badges I saw were "Brabus" I know one thing for sure, this thing blows the doors off the AMG CL65.

 

Someone else convinced her to get it. She was getting a Viper but this thing is faster when it's not hot and in fact has barely edged out a Viper heatsoaked just like in the video.

 

So regardless she was going for speed.. Usually a woman could care less about what's under the hood Care to share what she paid? 80k+?

 

She got a good deal. I think it was around 65K. This is a girl with 300m in her savings.

 

Must be nice to have that kind of cash laying around not even working for you.

Nah, we're still good. This was a very short term from 5 years ago that I became friends with afterwards. I actually haven't seen her in a long time. Awesome girl but way too much for me to handle. Thinking back, some of the things I experienced still don't seem real. Walking the red carpet with a Budweiser in one hand in a white t-shirt and jeans almost too drunk to walk. It was a blast when I was younger.

 

S600 or S65 AMG! As nice as they are, the power is more of a novelty than anything.

 

The power is just absurd .. couldn't imagine what it would feel like to ride in it.

It doesn't feel as fast as it is. Gives you a little head spin but the fact that I could drive it with one hand and film with my cell with the other shows how tame it feels. I guess it's the super long wheelbase and the comfort that's decieving.

I may take it to Acurafest since everyone else will have a TL and mine's nothing special.

 

IIRC, they take the CL65 AMG and mod it to their specs.

 

That's interesting. I always thought it started life as a CL65 AMG but then I was thinking why would it basically go through two stages of mods.

The salesman said this Brabus package included a larger engine, larger turbos, and larger intercoolers. I believe it because this one pulls significantly harder than the CL65 and even harder than the CL65 that we turned the boost up on.

She told me today that it cost $95,000. I thought it was 65K but it was over 4 years ago and my memory is obviously terrible.

Chased down a yellow Viper GTS today while I had it out trying to get the non heatsoaked vid. I ended up heatsoaking it badly while putting a hurting on the Viper. Maybe tomorrow I'll have a "fast" video.
