Trooper arrests drivers for speeding 141 mph on I-5

Shouldn't have stopped

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/...A_141_mph.html

EVERETT, Wash. -- The Washington State Patrol says a trooper arrested two men speeding 141 mph on I-5 in Snohomish County.

The patrol says the trooper thought he was hearing an airplane early Sunday as the cars whizzed by going north -- a 2005 BMW 330i with a 2007 Honda Accord right behind.

The trooper caught up with the cars because they had stopped for a passenger from one of the cars to get into the other.

The 22-year-old driver of the BMW, and the 18-year-old driver of the Honda were booked into the Snohomish County Jail for charges of reckless driving

i wonder if the accord was an 4 banger or a 6.... but its kinda odd that you would be going 141 in front of a trooper in the middle of the day.

guessin they didn't see the trooper since they stopped to change passengers? This is why you Exit, make a few turns, and get away from the Interstate if you're going to stop. Kids these days...

Assuming it was stock, I imagine the Accord was a V6. I wonder if a video is forthcoming from the participants.

That said, I would not have stopped neither. I am also surprised that they did not see the cops. At any speed above 75mph, I am seriously on the lookout for Crown Vics, Impalas and Chargers.

this story goes like this:

It was about 7:30 am on a sunday. i am crusing up highway 50 outside of sacramento and i was doing about 120mph for about 20 miles as i crest this hill i notice a cop car crusing in the right lane so i slow down to about 70 mph not thinking he didn't see me. all of a sudden the cop car slams on his breaks smoke is everywere gets behind me and pulls me over. cop comes to my window and asks why he pulled me over, i said i don't know i know i wasn't speeding he asked how fast was i going i said 70 mph officer, he goes try again i said ok maybe 80 tops he goes 120 mph for 20 miles the plane has been tracking you for that long i go damn plane. he asks why in such a rush i said i am going to be late for my sons christining, he said try again i said i am late to see my dad for a game of golf. officer said well i have never seen that before so i am going to write you up for 80 in a 65 and you almost got away.

goes to show that they are always watching.

I'm supprised the Accord could keep up with the BMW. I wonder if it was a 6speed V6.

the 330i is not that fast of a car and I'm assuming it was a V6.

The 330i is not that slow neither, topping out at 150mph+ in Perf Pkg trim. If I had to guess, I would say 'V6 6MT' on that Accord. (I suspect that the 5AT is governed somewhere around 130mph.)

maybe they clocked the 3er doing the 141- the Accord was "behind" the 330i when the trooper initially saw them. how far behind remains a mystery. initial story says "right" behind but cops tend to exaggerate sometimes for purposes of reports, news, and court.

We'll never know and going those speeds, "right behind" could mean within a block of eachother and it would seem like 20 feet apart.

Why the doubt? I've hit the governor in mine once, only to test it out. It governed out at 232 or so km/h. It was something just over 230. That would have been between 142 and 144 mph.

i had a 6th gen Accord (98-02) bodystyle and my odometer only went to 140mph that's why. fastest i went on that Accord was 120mph and it was shaking.

But this was an 07. Faster, different gearing, and they extended the governor. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Ah, but that was either an automatic or a 4cylinder. Both of which might not be able to do it. Also, the J30A5 is a better iteration of the previous J30A3 used in your 6th gen. Furthermore, the gearing in the 6 speed allows you to keep the RPM up to get there.

you are WOT, the rpm's even in the old A4's didn't dive much, although w/ the overdrive gear it just took some time getting there

I remember an episode of that where an M3 was running from cops, and actually got away from them, but they edited the video to make it look like the cops caught him. There was one part where he turned around and they showed it again later, trying to pass it off as him spinning out and getting caught.
Haven't been able to stand watching the show ever since.

I heard about that a couple weeks ago, I believe I've seen that video several times too, but I don't think I noticed, I am definitely going to look for it next time. John Bunnell just gets on my nerves sometimes exagerating everything. I don't think he has ever driven in Southern Florida. People go 85+ on the highways for no reason at all zig zaging and sh!t, he would be bugging out thinking that a police chase was going on everywhere.

Has anyone noticed that the random tire squeels in those videos? They all sound the same and happen at times where tires normally don't squeel. Hmmm...

I like Most Shocking, they seem to be a lot more honest, a couple of times people outran the police and they admited that the cars were too fast to catch.
