Trailer Hitch > CL-S
Driving home from work. About a half a mile away stopped at a light. Look in the mirror and see a car flying up as she came over the hill. Fvck. Loosened up then let off the brake as she slammed into me and threw me into the back of a truck or I should say his trailer hitch.
First accident for the CL-S...
She actually somehow got underneath the rear end of my car. Barely anything noticeable on the bumper from the angle of the picture.
The cop was nice enough to point out my window tint (35%) was illegal before I left.
Rear end damage:

Did the hitch go through the radiator?

Smashed it pretty good. I had no leaking fluid until I pulled up to the apt.. The fan surely didn't sound real good.

Neck is definitely sore and tail bone hurts.

Damn Scott. Glad you're okay. That has to be the worst feeling ever. Seeing a car flying up on you in your rearview with no where for you to move and a big ass truck in front of you.
Ouch.
Take it easy for a two or three days.

Sorry to hear about the accident-did she get a ticket?

I can't stand seeing vehicles with the trailer hitch balls on when they aren't towing anything. I just want to get out of my car, take it off, and throw it at their hood.
No respect for anyone's safety and property. I tow often and remove the ball after every tow. Not only does your car look cleaner without it on, I don't have to worry about damaging anyone else's car or body more than a accident would. No reason to keep it on, and plenty to take it off...so take em' off people, and tell your friends to too.

Glad you're OK. The car can always be replaced or fixed. Make sure you feel fine in a day or 2. When I was rear ended I had no pain for about 4 days and then my back felt like crap.
Now I must post the obligatory....."that shit will buff right out."

Jonesi, sorry to hear about this! I can't believe the cop actually took extra time to point out your tint. I respect cops in general, but I have to say that was pretty petty of that one in particular.

Sorry Jonesi. That sucks.... Glad your ok. I hate seeing people come up from behind like that. I got it once in one of my other cars. The lady hit me from behind at 40 ( i was waiting to turn left) never once hit the brakes, she was too busy doing her makeup.
Hope they fix-er-up all quick for ya!

Funny part is I never heard any brakes screeching. Looked today and there aren't any skid marks so I have no clue how hard she hit me.
Find out she has insurance with Progressive..
State minimum for collision must be $5K so now I have that to worry about and if it goes over that price including rental etc then I don't know. I've never had to deal with this shit before. This makes no sense to me.
Anyone help me out here?
More or less I was told if the damage between my car and the car in front of me are over $5K I/ or my insurance company(Erie) would have to sue the person at fault to cover the rest?
This is miserable and aggravating.

Sarcasm? It's 35%.. It's pretty light.
Here's a old old old pic but one with light. You can see right through it.

That sucks
But I wasn't surprised from reading the thread title.... I recently learned that trailer hitches are usually mounted to the frame of a vehicle (!) so....
Let us know how the whole insurance thing works

I can almost bet one of the following scenarios:
1) woman on cell phone
2) woman looking in her purse to find cell phone
3) woman putting on makeup
4) woman wanting to pick up Jonesi with a hawt modified CL-S
Hope you are OK. Definitely go see a MD to get things checked out. If you're gonna have to sue over $5k, you might as well get some medical expenses / pain&suffering out of it, too.
That was almost what happened to me, but I was at the front end of a chain reaction accident ... but my rear bumper got totally wrecked and had to be replaced.
