Talking Toyota Mark X...What the TSX and TL should have been

Take a look at this video. The first 45 seconds show enough, but the rest has a lot of detail. I'm no fan of Toyota, but this car is very nice. The body lines, interior, etc... Although the seats look so-so, I'd hit it. The size relationship is about that of the 3G TL or current TSX.

Thoughts?

It's nothing like the Camry. It's a RWD Japanese only sedan. I would take this over a TSX/TL if they can tune the suspension and steering feel properly.

Looks like a first generation Cadillac CTS with softer curves.
It also reminds me of the 7G Accord, which I really didn't like much .
Meh.

I don't see any 7G Accord in the design. Looks more like a cross between a Corolla and a Sonata.

Look in the C-pillar and trunk. Also, the side profile is quite comparable.

I've seen Best Motoring videos of the Mark X. The new Mark X's platform is carried over from the previous gen Mark X, and that car shares a lot of components with the Lexus GS.

From what I've saw/read, the Mark X drives similarly to the Lexus IS. On the Tsukuba test track, it can't keep up with the G37 and the 335i. The JDM Legacy GT would smoke it too.

Looks like Toyota (Corolla) and Lexus (IS and ES) went out to the bar, hit on a Hyundai (Sonata), had a 3some and slept with each other and gave birth to the Mark X. It probably looks better in person.

@ 0:47, kind of reminded me of an IS.
It just doesn't appeal to me. Looks bland and boring. Interior looks dated.

I'm just a hater

It does. I f I were to hit a Toyota, it would be that one or the Crown Athlete.

It's not really a performance car, with a 2.5L and VVTI, no turbo. But it's just that in that size / segment here, it's that and the LGT / Honda Inspire (USDM Accord)/Nissan Skyline (G37 but with a 2.5L JDM only). They all run in the $30K - 40 K range (the Skyline in 370 trim is a shade north of $40K here).

Of that group, only the Honda is FWD. The LGT is AWD, while the Skyline has it as an option.

Doesn't look like a 2011 car to me. More 2006ish.

Nothing special IMO. I mean...I'd take that anyday over, say the 4G TL. But it's not doing much for me.

I swear as I watched the video, I thought the car looked like a mutation among an IS, a Corolla, and a Sonata.
