Top Bikes @ Assen comparo chart

Interesting to see how well some of the 600's do, in comparison to the liter bikes... goes to show how important handling is. We are talking about bikes that run the 1/4 at high 120's vs. bikes that hit 140+ in the 1/4....

This is from the Sept 2004 Cycle World comparo, they are trying to find a bike that will beat the Kawasaki ZX10R... they couldn't...

Obviously. There was no ninja in the 1000 class.

Wait until they decide to build a 1300 or another 750.

which bike dominated (or dominates) the 750 class? Ninja? I don't think so.

what about 600? Ninja? no.

Ninjas always dominated the 600 class overall. It took a hit when the r6 came out but a few revisions knocked the r6 right out of the box.

The 750 ninja hasn't been updated since the early to mid 90's. Like I said. If they do decide to build a new 750, it will stand alone.

Forgive me, I've always been a Ninja fanatic.

hey I'm a Ninja fan too, but the facts remain - Ninjas have been outclassed by everything until the release of the ZX10R and ZX-636 - and it's great for Kawasaki, nice to see them in the limelight for once. I am talking about track numbers here, not sales numbers or even technical specifications...

Again I like Ninjas but they just haven't been at the top until recently... good for them.

Busa and 1100xx are not racebikes... their numbers would have reflected that - but nonetheless it would have been interesting to see how they fared.

also, it was only 600, 750, and liter classes.

the zx7r has (finally) been put out to pasture. the master bike competition generally doesn't include obsolete models.

not too much remains of the old 750 superbike class now - just the '04 gsx-r 750, I think.

I do think it is telling that the gsx-r 750 ran within a couple of tenths of the mighty zx-10r, though.

shows what a well tuned chassis and not-excessive power can do for lap times... (plus, the 750 has been around a while, so the test riders are probably more comfortable going fast on it versus a completely new bike like the 10.)

The GSXR 750 has been "The Bike"
I cant wait to get one.

Zx-10r is impressive. Best bike out, but its funny how a 750 is in a CLOSE 2nd.

GO GIXXER 750!

good question. maybe they only wanted one bike per brand, per class??

In any event, I would have liked to see how the RC51 would have done compared to the others...

i dont think that is the case these guy that test ride these bikes are good enough to compete at the pro level or once did some may even still. i dont think the factory bike makers are just gunna hand over the latest models for an average joe to rag on it threw a track. they are all acomplished riders,in saying that i dont think they took it easy on any bike. then ran them threw the paces. now in the litter bike class there has never been a year when they are so evenly matched as the 04s are. i read a lot of street bike mags my fav is road racer x. there is always great write ups on the bike as well as tech info on what the tech is for bikes. and the cover motogp like no towmorrow. if you havent read one and are a street bike enthuiest(sp?) i suggest picking one up.

I should have also scanned the page where all the riders in the test (factory riders, pros, ex-pros, etc) talked about which bikes they liked. I think almost every one of them said the ZX10R is really fast but very tricky to ride at the limit... they said the 750 was very easy to ride at the limit, and get great times out of. Many of them preferred the 750 over the 10 based on this fact, even though the 10 was the "best" one...

Check out Sept '04 Cycle World for the full test, it's a great read...
