Tire Murderer

This thing shredded the inside of my sidewall last night. Took it to a shop this morning to see if the tire could be patched, and they found this inside the tire. The guy said it's one for the record books, apparently he's never seen something so big inside of a tire. He said it's a knife blade.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/swimjax/4173738529/" title="Tire murderer by swimjax, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2779/4173738529_63bf240e49.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="Tire murderer" /></a>

Tire is done for. $153 later, a new one is on order from Tire Rack. Unfortunately the shop didn't have one in stock. It's one of my snow tires.

Instead of rollin' on the donut until it comes in, I ran home and got one of my summer wheels to use.

There are so many potholes around here now because the state is broke so they aren't fixing them. I just hope this doesn't happen again this winter.

Ouch. That sucks.

Our city is one major pot hole. Thankfully I moved to the burbs and now just get on the freeway and off

Be glad it didn't hit your headlight or something really expensive to fix!!!

Still sucks, though.

Yeah, definitely glad it was just a tire. I was shocked when they pulled that out this morning.

I was kind of due for a flat. I think it's been around 5-6 years since my last one. At least it wasn't a brand new tire....then I would have been really pissed.

So you're going to have differently worn tires on each side? I hope they're new, I had two punctures before and twice I just had to go for a whole new set of tires because the three others were just too worn to put a single new on one (and I couldn't find any used ones at a price that made sense).

Sorry, no pic of the tire. The piece itself is about 2 inches long. I'm lucky it didn't fly up and hit my windshield.

Yeah, 3 older tires and one new. I haven't driven much the last 4 years since I moved 3 miles from work, so there aren't many miles on these tires. They still look almost new.

I hit a pair of scissors once (who the hell leaves scissors in the road?), punctured the front driver's side tire, the back driver's side tire and launched the scissors about 2 inches into my muffler. That was a good one.....

I bet I could run over the same pair of scissors a million times and never make that happen again.

Glad you're ok.

Never try to repair sidewall damage
Always get a new tire....most reputable shops won't repair sidewall damage anyway.

Yeah, I would never do that. From the outside, the tire looked fine until I saw where the blade entered. It wasn't until they opened up the tire that they saw the sidewall damage inside.

Dang that sucks. There are so many things on the road these days that can punture tires.
For example:

Haha a women shoe...
