It is time to say goodbye
She'd be 19 in July.
205k miles
Was planning to have timing belt service done this weekend.
Sideswiped by a guy in a work van on the Garden State Parkway. We'll see what insurance says but can't imagine it's not totalled. New mirror and some "fine tuning" with a mallet and she'll be good to go .

That doesn't even look bad. At all. If insurance wants to total it, I'd keep it and fix it myself. It's a front quarter panel, door and mirror. The door doesn't even look damaged. Just needs a refinish and repaint.
Wheel can be repaired. Front bumper needs a bit of paint, but when that would get painted anyway when they blend into the front bumper.
I mean, if you love the car, why not spend the 2500 to fix it?

Pretty sure they are not. IIRC the sail panels on the inner door panel are different so guessing the mirror assembly is as well. I found some for ~$25 on eBay.

$30 ebay mirror, $15 aftermarket side marker, a little elbow grease and she's almost back to normal.
Insurance company totalled it so I got a nice check and got to buy the car back for nothing.

Well that was short-lived. Turns out trying to register a salvage vehicle in PA is a royal PITA. There's a $200 fee regardless whether you pass or fail. Add to that the inspector goes through your car with a fine tooth comb. I know the things that are wrong with the car and in the end it'll cost me more than it's really worth to pass this stupid inspection. It's definitely driveable but I'm quite sure there will be $$$$ in repairs I'm just not in the mood to have done. Oh and they are going to make me have the repairs done at their shop.
So I'm taking the cash and walking away. Sad. She was a month away from 19 yrs.

Damn sorry to hear that. That is a huge bummer. That was one great looking Inspire.
Side note but I didn't know Kris got those wheels from you. Love those wheels.

And she's back.
1) His insurance company paid the $200 to get the salvage inspection done
2) It passed
3) Got my reconstructed title back from DMV
4) Re-registered/re-inspected car
5) Back on road
Ordered new exhaust from cat through mufflers (got warning on inspection) for $350. Will do timing belt and water pump in a few weeks. Still drives great.

That's awesome and how did you get their insurance to pay the $200?

Time to say goodbye.
Haven't driven it since December 2018.
My son has no interest in it when he gets his license next year.
Needs a new battery, 4 tires from sitting so long.
Going to donate it in the next few weeks.

Thats all she needs? My nephew needs a car to get him back and forth to college. Are you interested in selling it?
