Time for a new truck...suggestions welcome~!

my dad currently drives a 03 Ram w/hemi... has around 45,000 miles and its already falling appart.. what a POS~

here is my suggestion for my dad...

05 Toyota Tundra

or

05 Nissan Titan

anyone own either one?

my dad won't even consider a ford or a dodge now..since he's had bad luck with both trucks...

Chevy is a another choice...but arn't they due for a redesign soon? they seem to be very dated...

any suggestions would be great!

Both choices are solid. I would get the Toyota they last forever and the Tundra has been out for a while and has excellent reliability.

You can get a really really good deal on an F-150...and personally, I like the new ones.

Well since your dad drove a pretty fast truck he'll probably won't like the Tundra as it's slow compared to it and is dated against the competition. So that leaves you with the Titan that is as fast and in some cases even a little quicker then the Hemi and IMO is a better all around truck then the Tundra.

Go with the Titan. It's an incredibly good truck for the money.

I got an 02 Tundra 4x4 regular cab SR5 with the 4.7 I-Force V-8. The reason I got regular cab is because for my business(lawncare) i rarely have more than 2 guys in the cab. so It wasn't nessary to have an extended cab.
Now about the actual truck.on a scale 1-10 overall i'd give it a 8.
I like how smooth the tranny and motor is. I get 20 mpg if i'm not pulling or hauling anything and on Interstate with it.
small bitches: paint shitty. we live in rural country and use a truck how a truck made to be used(hauling stuff, pulling stuff, popping stumps, moving people). anyhow we got paint chips all up and down the side of the bed. I've talked with the dealer about repainting they said they'd only do touch paint. which is pointless because in 6 months it's like that again. I've talked with other Tundra owners they say the same thing.
However if I had to do over again I would have went with the Titan. for a couple reasons
#1. I like the design of the Titan better(i would have just got an extended cab)
#2. the power difference.
#3. i feel the Titan laid out better than the Tundra
#4. the Titan pulls like a mother --- 9000 lb GVWR.(That's about equal to a 3/4 ton)
#5. the whole paint issue kind of pisses me off. because i bought the tundra new.

Even with the recent HP upgrage Tundra is still one of the slowest in its class. I say go for the Titan.

Titans seem pretty solid, though I still like Toyotas...both the Tundra and the new Tacoma.

I own an 04 F-150. I've had no problems with it, seems like it's going to last me a very very long time. Well built, quiet, powerful when you need it. I'd say it's a perfect choice.

I read on another post that the Titan had some problems. Can't remember if it was here or on V6P. Anyways the Titan have a notorious brake problem of pads dying fast. One owner complained as low as 3000 miles but that's probably an aberration. I'd check each car's respective message boards and you might get a better idea of what's lacking on each truck.

What's wrong with your dad's HEMI Ram anyways?

If you want the power, get the Titan. If you want reliability, get the Tundra. I know of people with the Titan who had to get their brakes changed every 3000 miles because of some sort of problem with the braking system, for one thing....

If you need a long bed I'd go with the GMC Sierra 1500 or 2500. depending on what he's hauling. If you need good payload I'd go with a 2500HD with the Duramax/Allison combo.
I'm a volunteer firefighter a neighboring fire dept to us has a new grass truck. they got a brand new '05 chassis GMC 4x4 1 ton with the Duramax/Allison combo. for that thing having a 250 gallon tank and a crap load of gear in the back. it will run.
plus the transmission pretty smooth.
IMO: the Sierra looks better than the Silverado. I've never liked the Avalanche front end and around 02 or 03 they put the Avalanche front end on the Silverados and ruined them. the GMC looks likey they kept the old Chevy front end(99-about 01 or 02) and still using it. it's not as aggressive.

as far as selling the old Dodge: depends on how fast he wants to sell it. If he's in a waiting mood put it in the local paper. if he's in a rush and willing to gamble put it on e-bay. but i wouldn't put it up there without a reserve. I've seen "normal" cars go really high on e-bay and I've seen cars on go cheap e-bay. it's basically i think how people write them up and take the pictures.

That sucks dude. My parents have the same truck and it's been really good to them. No problems whatsoever.
I'm watching this thread closely too, a friend of mine is in the market for a new truck and so far the only thing that's caught his eye is the Honda Ridgeline. And as much as I love my TL....I just dunno about a 1st year truck from Honda.
