Thoughts re. the 2014 Macan ??

My search-fu is admittedly weak but I did a search here w/ out much success + I started one a few days back in the RDX (gen2) forum.

Am I the only one here going to take a hard look @ the Macan in 2014?

It is basically a Q5, isn't it? It looks pretty good but is it better than the alternative?

I've been following the Macan for a while now. I'd love to own one when the TL hits 200k miles sometime in 2016

Arguably, a similar thing could be said about the Cayenne and the Toureg, but the Cayenne is a much meaner machine.

I like it. But I also like the refreshed Cayenne as well. Something lustfully attractive about hugely powerful and sharp SUV/Crossovers to me.

True. I was curious if it was on the Q5 platform actually.

The alternatives are probably what, the Evoque, the Q5, GLK, ?

Knowing Porsche prices, you can prolly get 2 RDXs for the price of a well optioned Macan.

Macan?

I typically disagree with CharlieMike, however, I think he may be on the right track here...

Why not consider the Q5? $50K would be a much smaller nut to crack than that Porsche payment. As a former 911 owner I can say without a doubt, people fuck with you at every stop light and Johnny Law is not far behind either. I would rather have Soccer Mom's envy me than teenage boys.

Yeah, but then you're stuck with two RDX's and zero Porsche's

I guess it really depends. Me... I love Porsche as well as Audi... but I'd go Macan over Q5. It would be a great gateway into the Porsche brand... and you could grow from there (same way we did with Acura then Audi and now Mercedes). Then again, that Q5-S or SQ5 or whatever they're calling it should be pretty sweet too...

I'd so those are probably the alternatives.

this, I read a first drive review on the SQ5 yesterday. They said when driven at 60%, the exhaust note is somewhat AMG like. I'll see if I can find it

Edit: found it

Sounds awesome! Will likely be a little less expensive then the Porsche although I thought I read the Macan V6 TT will have ~375hp (versus ~355 for the SQ5)...
