Thoughts on a Civic Hybrid
Hi All,
So I am looking into getting a civic hybrid to replace my aging 2003 TL. I need better gas mileage and would love to stay with Acura, but I just can afford that right now. I am considering a used 2008, 2010, 2011, or 2012.
Any and all thoughts are welcomed.
This will be my first car I am buying so any advice on that would also be appreciated.
Thank you!!

I have heard a lot of people dont get anywhere close to the mileage they should get and they like to go through battery packs which arent cheap.
A member over at TOV (Temple of Vtec) just had his fail and he only has 50k on his Civic and he has never got close to the mileage they say he should get.....as mentioned above, just google it.

If your after gas mileage. try for a 2009+ vw tdi (passat, jetta, golf). Engine specs changed in 09 for the better. Tough part is finding on that doesnt have a billion miles on it, the ones that have relatively low miles hold their value pretty good too.
The key to any new car purchase is the test drive and seat time. Just sit in the car and look where things are located, try to find annoying little things like why did they put switch A in that location when in the other car they put it over here.

Drifting
I haven't heard much good about civic hybrids. I was actually wondering about the Fustion Hybrid as well. All of the reviews I've read about them are pretty positive (minus small trunk). I may be picking one up in the spring, but I haven't had a chance to drive one yet. Most of them are running between $14k-$17k used (2010-2011) with under 50k miles.

Have a 2011 Civic Hybrid loaner right now. Terrible car IMO. The start/stop is far too intrusive. Car always feels like it going to stall when coming to a stop or when you begin moving again and its an overall very loud car.
Not sure if the stalling feeling is due to the CVT or IMA system but either way, it feels terrible. Can't comment on MPG as I've only had it 2 days.
