Thinking about trading TL-S for 535

bought the 07 Tl-s about a year ago, 15000 on it and i owe 31000. the 535 you can finally get a AWD with a clutch.

thinking about trading her in...i know ill get racked over the coals but they have a good lease out now for about 650. right know im payin 720. just curious what ya think the hit would be...im thinking around a trade in 27000.

just curious...i usualy do this 2 years before i trade em in..

ps im 6'4"250lbs just cant fit into a 335

Twin-turbo I6 and AWD are gonna eat up gas, but if you don't mind that then go for it. I'd test drive it before though.

I would think an I6 with TT would churn out more than 300HP. I bet the tuning possibilities are insane. If all the jap sedans are churning 300hp N/A what's the story with BMW and their TT setup?

Torque.

That, and they're underrated.

Other than the fact that I think the BMW 5-series is uglier than ...Up to you?

Why not an A6...?

And leasing the TL for $720/month wasn't the brightest move either.

how about a Benz E350 4 matic if you want all wheel drive.
In my opinion: the E class looks 100 times better than a 5 Series. it looks classy. the 4 oval front headlights is just timeless.

also the COMAND(which in the Benz takes care of the Navi, radio, HVAC, Bluetooth) is a lot EASIER to use vs the ghey Idrive.

A6s don't "fuck you through the drive-thru" like an A8 does but they still aren't going to be as good a deal as a BMW because of the larger depreciation.

720 seems high but makes sense I guess. Sounds like you put zero down on the TL last year (or very little) and probably had a 35k loan (more or less). So if you are willing to take the hit financially then go for it. I agree with newplay in that you are moving from a nice sedan to a nicer one but not by leaps and bounds. Plus if you lease the bimmer you will probably have issues with modding it.

Damn, I thought my 420 a month back when I bought my TLS in 03 was high! It's nice not having a payment now but my car feels dated and I definitely have the itch for something new.

It's all about the area under the curve. I hate that my TL has to wind up to 5,500 before it makes any power. The BMW is effortless and feels more like a big block. Once moving there is no lag whatsoever. From a dead stop, just a little but I'm talking about taking off from idle. Bring up a few rpms and lag is non-existant from a stop too.

I agree, peak numbers aren't that impressive but you have to drive one to appreciate it. They do respond very well to simple mods. It will never be a dragstrip terror but it would make a great daily driver.

Not a current 5-series fan...but I'd let an M5 park in my garage if someone gave me a good deal on one.

I love the 5 series as well, but I liked the previous generation much more. The new 5 isn't nice enough to make me go out and buy it, let alone take a huge loss by trading in an already nice and modern car Maybe if it was the 550 or M5, but I couldn't do it for a 535.

In fact, my friend got a completely tricked out Dinan(ECU upgrade, suspension, exhaust, and so much other stuff)00' M5 with 76k miles for 35k

I wouldn't trade a TL and take a bath for a 535, the 535 is certainly a nicer car....but not worth that type of effort imo.

Pay your car down more and wait awhile.

To the A6, they don't lease out that well and the V6 is a complete snore and slow....the V8 is expensive and not that fast either.

Don't be surprised if the 09 550 get's the new TT V8 (400hp, 450lb -ft torque) that will be in the X6.

That engine would be nuts in a 550 or 650.
