Thinking about trading my new tl-s in for...

07' Infinity G35 Journey edition. Seriously I bought my first Acura, which was a 06' Tl last June and when the new type-s came I got that one in January. Since then I there is nothing but fucking rattles everywhere in these damn cars. Both had these issues. The first two weeks of having the type-s it was in the dealership for rattles which they fixed some but now they seem like they are everywhere. I just test drove the g35s today and loved it. It seemed that it is way more responsive on the acceleration than the type-s and no rattles whatsoever. I paid 38K for the type-s. Within five months of haviing the type-s the resale value is only $28k. That to me is fucking crazy. What is it with all these people on here claiming Acura has such a great resale value. Yeah right. I don't know I may be just ratting but does anyone else feel like this? To me you would think Acura would make one of the best selling cars like the TL problem free. Just my two cents. Anyways thanks for listening.

I took my FX35 for maintenance last friday and received a new G35 sedan as a loaner. All I can say is that the newer TL-s are so much better interior wise. G35 felt sort of cheap inside... I do have to agree with you that the G35 does have a really nice response to acceleration. I would personally prefer the TL-s (co-worker has one) over the new G35.

28k? wtf!!! I don't know which dealer you went to but that is fucking ripp off. If I was in your situation..I would keep the tl for another 3-4 years. If you trade it in now then you are losing way too much money. I still can't believe that they offered you 28k. hahahaha... that is a steal if you ask him. My brother was looking for tl and he found one that was 05 and asking price was 27k.

get ready to take a BIG hit if you wanna sell your new car within the first year.

what s the sticker on your TLS? sticker - 5G should be a fair price for your TLS (Trade in)

is it just me or are you making a series of really bad decisions and then complaining about resale/trade in value? you had an 06 which had rattles and then traded it in for an 07 w/ rattles and now want to trade that in and get the new g? did you expect the infiniti dealer to give you top dollar for an Acura? i agree that 28k is way too low for a type-s that is only 5 months old. how about selling it private party or carmax? Trust me- there are problems w/ the G just like there are problems w/ anything that is mass produced.

Is 28k a dealer price for trade-in? If so, then that's why. Don't ever expect to get close to your expected asking price for a dealer trade-in, ever. And who claimed that Acuras had a good resale value? If anything, we bash them for having a lower resale value because of the 2G CL/TL auto transmission issues. If you can extract a quote from a member or two who said that resale value is good on the TL that would be great.

You could probably sell it close to the price you paid for it through a classified ad. Its more trouble but I would do it, you could pocket yourself 37,000 instead of 28,000.

Fix the rattles, drive your car. Take apart your panels and find out what's rattling. Every car's going to have a few rattles whether you like it or not.

Selling a TL-S for 28k.. that's just plain stupid.

He has to be upside down quite a bit in the TL-S. My mom had an 05 G35 on a two year lease. When she turned it in, the car had some rattles and only had a shade over 13K miles. So, I would follow the advice of others on this one. Get your rattles addressed via the dealer and enjoy your car.

Besides... trading out cars will cost you some serious cash in long run, then you might get stuck with a car you hate that you can not get out of because you owe a lot more than what it is worth. (If you are financing the car.)

If you dislike your TL-S that much, I will personally come and buy it from you for 30K.

There is a night and day difference between the 1st gen and 2nd gen G35 interior, I would agree with you about the 1st gen but not the 2nd.

TL interior is not 1000x better than the new G. TL interior is nice but i like the more wrap around feel and none of that painted plastic in the G

If you don't like the car thats fine. I just wouldn't go trying to offload it after only 5 months if you're still upside down in the loan. I would either drive it long enough to equalize the negative equity, or pay the loan down quicker by making bigger payments. 1-2k of negative equity on a trade-in isnt the end of the world, but unless you made a big down payment on that TL-S, you're gonna be way worse off than that.

So you think the newer G35 has a nicer interior than the new TL-s? I know that the G35 received a huge upgrade from its 1st gen, but still looks pretty cheap inside, especially the door panels. I guess it was suppose to mimic the door being wrapped in leather, but it was just cheap plastic... I think I would buy the new TL over the new G35 sedan anyday.

I guess that's why they make different cars, for different people. I came from a 2004 TSX and had no complaints about the car, I just wanted something faster and more luxurious. I checked out the TL and new G(among others) and liked the G better then the TL all around including the interior. I didn't like the pictures I saw of the washi alumium trim in the G but when I saw it in real life I liked it. I also think the only way I'll go with out a keyless ignition in the future is if its for a sports car, I thought it was a gimicky feature at first, but now I can't imagine not having it - and I guess that's part of the interior. I'm by no means saying the TL is a shit box, I just liked the G better.

Yeah I think I will hold onto the car for a few more years. I gotta take the car in for the second oil change next week so I will have them try and fix the new rattles. My car is paid for so not really that worried if I wanted to yet buy another brand new one but just like everyone says there is always problems with mass produced cars. I love the TL-S, but damn rattles get on my nerves and it seems like a pain in the ass when you keep going back to the dealership. I don't want to seem like a nusance but I'd rather have them fixed the first time. Thanks for everyone that posted comments.

Not true. I have had my 06 G36 precisely that long and despite my three kids it's as quiet as the day I bought it. Not a SINGLE rattle!

For me, RWD is what swayed me from my 2000 TL to the 2006 G35.

Now, if Navigation matters as much to you as me, Infiniti's navigation is a distant second to Acura's touchscreen and abailty to progrma while in motion.

Well said, Tireguy. The Intelligent key is an addiction for me too. I agonized over 6-spd vs auto because the stick doesn't have the i-key. It's one of the best features I've ever had in a car. To me it's as important as navigation. Pisses me off every time I actually have to pull out and insert the key in my wife's Expedition!

Had I wanted to spent the extra money over my 2006 G35, I say the 07 G is a better car than the TL overall, though the TL excels it in a couple areas.

Well, hold on. If it's paid for, shope around for the best trade value and get out of it! Problem solved.

Well see the thing you have to keep in mind is not all TLs rattle. So im sure the same is true for the G35 that some have rattle issues and others dont. So I guess its just luck.
