Thinking about an NSX...

Been actively researching NSX's the past couple of months I would like to ideally pick up an '02 or '03... budget is around 55k (under 30k miles). I think I've done as much as I can with the Z and want to move on to a car I have dreamed about for years. Love the NSX as is, the only thing I would really do is tint, 18/19 wheel combo, coilovers, and a different rear diffuser (such as the new downforce one). Anyways, I know there are FASTER cars for the money, but it's really not that much important to me... I can comptech it down the road, but I think I would like to keep it relatvely stock (so I say) as these are getting rarer by the day.... anyone own an NSX here? I would be all honda again if I find the right NSX.

Do it!

NSX or S2000 for me this summer. I'm going to stop being a cheapass finally and just pull the trigger.

"I won't mod it much"

Famous words of the Chicago AZers on this site. I didn't think I'd do much to the 335, I've already spent close to 3-4K and the car isn't even here yet

HAHA! The minor mods aren't really a problem, going FI is another story... kinda hesitant after going through it with the Z. But hopefuly I get the price for my Z that I want. Waiting on a new motor and tune and then a dealer wants to talk to me.... they mentioned they would love my car for the showroom... if that doesnt work out, then I would have to part out the car....which I'm really not looking forward to doing...

^ Yeah, in order for me to get the NSX... the Z must go..... but I'm not planning on actually posting it for sale until the new motor and tune.

my friend bought one last year. Honestly, i was amazed at the car. It looked tits. AND, even though it doesn't look powerful on paper...kit pulled hard! I love drivng that thing. It feels solid, is comfortable as hell, corners like it is on rails and looks amazing.
I would highly recommend driving one...you will be sold.

Test drove a used NSX a couple back in 2003 when I was seriously looking to trading in my CL-S for it (yah, stupid esp. in the climate I live in)...It was the funnest 30 minutes of my life.

One word: exhilarating.

As much as I love the NSX, I just can't see spending $55k on what is essentially a 17 year old design.....

^ definitely respect that.... but with that said... I think the design is timeless. Still looks better then most cars out there in that price range imo.

So, I guess you're anti-spending on any older Ferrari/Lamborghini cars too, then...?

There are certain cars that have timeless designs...and the NSX is one of them.

Do it! NSX is also my dream car (well the NSX-R is). I'm sure you already know this, but besides being fast and having good handling, the NSX will last very long as long as you take good care of it, someone on this forum even posted a NSX that has 300k on it and is still running great. I'd love to have one but too bad I'm still in school and don't have that kind of money yet...(or I should I am not smart enough to get scholarship so that money goes to school..)

Back on topic I believe the Targa version is not as stiff as the other version, and it's also a bit heavier which would affect the handling and acceleration a bit. But I'm sure it's not a big deal if you are not racing the car and enjoy open-top driving.

The best mod IMO is to convert it into a NSX-R. Or better yet, import one straight from Japan (but that would cost a lot more than 55k..).

Really? I feel like the flip ups made the car look so dated. By changing something as minor as headlights, It feels like an all new car to me.

The NSX is a grreat car. 55K is a little expensive but doesn't sound exagerated for 30k miles. +1 on getting that one, it's a I'm a sports car pull-me-over yellow that I would most definitely rock on one of those. I've never driven one though I've been reading how it was vtech heaven.

I prefer the NA1s also.... the 97-01s, preferably with NA2 tail lamps. Spa Yellow looks awesome in person. I saw one pulling out of a parking lot and I almost stopped my car in the middle of the street.

Its such a livable daily driver. Stock suspension handles bumps pretty well, shift gate is super narrow and the shifts are short already, yet the shifter is within easy reach. Targa top slightly rattles at higher speeds with the top on, but you shouldn't be driving that fast anyway. Or should I say if you are driving that fast, the engine noise should be loud enough to drown it out.

Nothing beats a targa/t-top roof in the summer... its a open-air driving experience minus the gayness of most convertibles. I'm not sure if you're married or not and the NSX doesn't really need any help but it gets you ass too. Targa top saves more time and space than t-tops too, it sits right above the engine bay in the NSX.

The GTR is going to be pretty much unattainable in the first year unless you are prepared to cough up the additional mark-up to MSRP. I know my dealership (one of my sponsors) is only betting on getting a few GTR's, I wouldn't even dare ask them for a "hook up" when I know they will be lucky to get a few. Besides, I am still not 100% sold aesthetically on the GTR. Love it from a performance standpoint, but kinda "meh" on the styling...

oh... hate the pop-up headlights! Hate that on ANY car... jaded from my old celica back in the days (one would stay up, one would stay down).
