Thinking about buying a Del Sol Si

OK .. Ive liked these cars fora while , they are small, compact, and fun to throw around in the corner .. plus they have a targa top.

The Del Sol is a 93 Si in Milano Red ... yes I know thats the Single Over Head Cam VTEC motor ... one year off from having the dohc and 15.8 quarter mile motor .. oh well

Has about 114000 on the chasis and about 75000 on the motor.
It has some ugly ass wheels on it and has some scratches in the paint (someone keyed the word 'fag' on it when it was the previous owners). Everything runs smooth and the title is clean and its also a 5 speed. Also has a cheesy alluminum spoler color matched with the car (no not a fast and the furious type) but more of a curvy design type (don't know how to explain it). Also has a shitty rice exhaust on it, but atleast it has Silencer

The spoiler and wheels would come off immediately and GSR Blades and some rubber things would go where the spoiler was when I take it off.

Am I wrong for loving this car to death? I think its the perfect beach car or relax car to go and cruise in.

What do you guys think?

The guy is aksing 2000 OBO. I offered him 1500 and am prob gonna pick it up this weekend

I've always liked the Del Sol. Honda used make some pretty fun Civics (Del Sol, CRX, Si, etc)...but now the Civic coupe and sedan are boring and the Si ugly and sub-par. I think the Del Sol would be a good purchase but I'd keep shopping around though. You might be able to get a better one or a better price.

You're right though, the wing and rims have to GO!

Something just seems wrong, like its been abused by some ricer. Silly wing and rims, dropped, on its second engine (did that happen in his ownership?). I'd try and find an option B too.

I would get it. Drop a K motor in it and go all motor. Del Slow's are werid looking to me, but if I see one that has the JDM/sleeper look they look very nice. I would get it.

a b18c5 would be an easier swap. the K motor would take special brackets and probably special wiring harness. the B18C5 almost bolts directly up. plus the after market for the b18c5 motor is INSANE. I'D go with a new crate Spoon Motorsports B18C5 motor. it runs about 6-7 grand plus install and misc parts.

you are suggesting putting $10k into a $1500 car?

why not just buy something decent to begin with.

The motor wont take as much time to install. Its just it cost much more then a b18. They have made engine mounts for the K motors and there is no need for special wiring harness, because some people already have some made ie; Hasport and Hybrid Racing. You can make insane amount of power from a NA K motor.

I could be wrong but Isn't a new fresh out of the box 05 RSX-S motor run 8-9 grand. and a Spoon B18C5 like I said only 6 grand. For the difference you could pay someone to put in the spoon motor.

Its easy to install an engine. Why pay someone to do it and have to fork over all that money when a couple of your friends can help.
