It has 49K miles on it.
I believe this were some of the "options"
- Sport Package
- Xenon Lights
- Wood Trim
- Premium Audio

It's a 6MT. I got it for $25,500 and it has 49K miles. It's a 2000. I'll post better pics later.
But the best thing about it is I got $14,500 for my CL-S trade in which had almost 70K miles. I bought it for $15,500 with tax last year. I had 3 different trannies in less than a year, which is why I decided to go with the BMW.

Drove one for a few years. Reliability was so so.
It was sort of hit or miss. Either Reliability was great and stable. Otherwise millions of problems will show up at one time. Be prepared to fix radiator, water pump, resevoir as it WILL go out. Not if, just when.
Driving is awesome! Lots of power. Just under 300hp. Very smooth highway car and you get lots of copmliments. Handling is awesome too!
All 6 speeds come with the sport package. If you get automatic, be sure to get sport package too! The ony thing, the wheels are staggered, good luck with tire life. You'll br changing tires every year or two. lol

Oh and be careful of the head gasket on the engine as well. A very common problem is that gasket fails a LOT! Then you'll have oil buildup around the sparkplug. Once there's too much oil and you have "misfire" you can damage your catalytic converter. Now you're talking repairs up to the ten thousands.
Get a prepurchase inspection at a BMW dealer before you buy it.
One thing to be prepared to replace is also the "control arm" and "thrust arm" bushings with a car of that age.

Ohi see that this is a 6 speed manual.
Be sure to remove the "CDV"
CDV= clutch delay valve.
It's a valve that's in the transmission fluid line.
Which in this case is brake fluid.
The valve restricts the amount of fluid that can do through the line at one time. It's intention was supposed to be so that the kids of rich parents that did not know how to drive a stick did not get into trouble.
Yes, it prevents you from dropping the clutch, but it also screws up shifting. No matter how soft or slow you let out the clutch, your passengers heads will bob back and forth. It will also accelerate the wear on your clutch.
A good replacement is the UUC clutch and while you're in there you'd might as well get a light weight flywheel.

Here's the forum where i learned a bunch of my stuff.
www.bimmerforums.com
Do a search for CDV or "clutch delay valve" and you'll know what i'm talking about. There's also a writeup of removing that.
Be sure to say that i sent you.
I'm Alin10123 over there as well.
One last note... BE CAREFUL IN OFF TOPIC OVER THERE! They are pretty brutal and childish there. lol
Dont say i didn't warn you.

you'll love the car. i love the 4.4 v8. deff faster in your 540 than in my 7 . you can swap out the headlights to angel eyes and the tails to led's and u got one that looks just like an 2003 model. One thing, the radiators on the things suck, made of plastic and they WILL go bad around 50~75k. u can get it replaced but it will fail again unless u go w/ an all aluminum radiator. the rear window regulator also goes bad and the cup holders are worthless. ( use it and it'll break ) Other than that, drive w/ DSC off and swing that bad boy around you'll love the 50:50 weigh distro. gas mileage should be right around 18mpg.
You can also do a naviation w/ the 16:9 screen as well as a bluetooth install for your car, v1 integrated into the dash computer via stealthone.com
I love the E39 sports w/ the M parrellel rims, same ones I got. 18 inch forged.
DIY and good info

That's cool. Those are the first things Iwas gonna do, tints, tails and then probably angel eyes. How hard is it to install angel eyes though? I cleared my headlights on the CLS and it took me 3 hours. Does the bumper need to be removed on the BMW too or is it just a matter of unscrewing the old housings and putting the new ones on?
Yeah, I always drive with DSC off, just like I drove the CLS with VSA off. Nothing like coming around a corner and flooring to make the rear come loose.
That's a clean looking 7.

Congrats on the 540 Absolutely a fun car to drive, especially with the 6-speed.
Installing the AE headlights is easy. And the bumper does not need to be removed. Installation of the CELIS LED tails does require a bit of cutting, but that can be accomplished with the use of a dremel tool. Another cosmetic upgrade would be the clear side markers.
Have fun with the ride. E-mail me if you need more info. After owning my 540i/6 for close to 2 years now I have lots of stored up info.

That looks really cool. I sent you a PM regarding the angel eyes. I already ordered the '03 tails.
