Thinkin' of switching to the dark side...

Test driving a '99 540i tomorrow. Does anyone have anything to say regarding this car? Anything I should look at?

There is no such thing as a perfect car, but 3 different trannys in 15K miles is a little too much.

If you do buy from them, then get the car checked out at bmw dealer before signing anything.

I love the 540i - x 1 billion. The BMW 4.4 V8 is so silky smooth and strong - I love it. Strongly recommended. I doubt it's a 6-speed..... is it? that would be like, icing on the cake. But the car is still , 6-speed or not.

Ok, well I test drove the 6 speed and it didn't have any options that the guy told me it would have before I drove 30 miles. The car felt sluggish and it had ///M badges everywhere. It also had 20K more miles than advertised.

Then I looked at the automatic with 48K miles and didn't even test drive it. It didn't even have a CD player or heated seats. Plus it was dirty as fuk! When I bought my car from Lexus, those guys made the Acura look brand new. These guys really don't know how to sell cars.

I went to Orland Park. There are different "luxury motors" dealerships around Chicago, like 4 of 5 of them.

I drove a 6 speed 540i with the sport package yesterday at another Luxury Motors and all I gotta say is WOW! Deffinitely a step up from my 01 CL-S. I got back into my CL-S and it felt sluggish and slow, and I have headers and icebox.

I'm getting this 540i 6 speed with the sport package on Saturday. It only has 49K miles, so almost 20K less than my '01 CLS.

Of course! But seriously, they had 3 other ones and this one was by far the best one. I'm gonna take it to a BMW dealership just to get it checked out though.

How if you are buying it on saturday? You have to make an appointment with bmw to get a full check.

Just say you wont get it checked out.

You can see the BMW dealership from teh Luxury Motors parking lot. It's probably not even 2 minutes away. But they do have all the service records, it was serviced at Elmhurst BMW.

service records wont show if it was in 5 accidents.

You still need to make an appointment to get the car checked out. Cant just go to the bmw dealer and say "give this car a full check"

Only if it's 6MT, if not, it's just another boat.

Picked it up last night and the only reason why I'm gonna miss the CL-S is because of the navigation. But this thing surpasses it in pretty much everything else.
