Test drove a 330ci

no i aint turning my back on the cl-s and gettin a bimmer.

my friend just got a 330ci drop and i was fuckin around in it by my self. the thing is beatiful from the exterior, i love how bimmers come w/ a nice ride height unlike some cars, i aint gonna mention any names. his 17's look big compared to my 17's cause of the ride height, i guess i need some springs

well on to the drive, i fuckin hate the controlls on all the german cars i have driven, soo fuckin confusing. i wanted to let this bitch loose and it took me like a few minutes to turn the dsv(i think thats what the bimmer tracion is called) and the a/c off. well i finally figured that out and got up on that thing, not to impressive off the line but its pretty quick for 225hp, no where near the acceleration of my cl-s w/ i/h. i think it will do mid 15's in the 1/4. but i wasnt really looking for open straight aways in this thing, i was lookin for the twisties.... and damn this thing fuggin sticks to the ground when your cornering hard, i was a little to over confident in one left hand turn and the back end went loose for a sec but it wasnt n e thing i couldnt handle. i was expecting the seats to hold me in a little better cause this is a bimmer, but the cl-s seats are much more supportive. i wonder how much better the coupe handles than the drop???

after my friend drove my car, he says our cars are equal in acceleration
but then when i want to race him he backs down

-handling
-exterior styling
-ride height

:thumbsdn:
-radio amd a/c controlls
-needs more power
-almost 50k brand new, i rather have a m3 coupe

actually, i own both cars....bought the CLS for value and 330ci for handling....raced them both, several times actually...and they are equal in acceleration....neither was significantly faster...off the line, id say neck and neck

If it's a 5MT, they're faster than our autos (STOCK). If it was an auto, then we can take them no problem.

Don't under-estimate the 330Ci with a manual gearbox. Well driven, they're mid-14 second cars which is pretty good IMHO.

I'd have to agree, I've run a couple 330's and it is dead even every time. However, he did say he has headers and intake. W/ H&I, the CLS would hammer a stock 330. Great cars though. I drove a 325Ci not long ago....overpriced for what you get, definately slower than the CL-S, but man was it fun on a twisty road.

I am so dead serious.....I have always wanted both cars, so i bought them....and always keeping in mind this UNRESOLVED DEBATE, i wanted to see the TRUTH....people always make false claims with too much exaggeration so i tested it...Me and my bro raced 8 times up to 80mph on even straightaways, switching drivers every other run....and the result was, NEITHER CAR PULLED AHEAD ON THE OTHER.....225 vs 260, was dead even.....to the wheel, they are both 200....with the 330 slightly more....maybe +5whp give or take.....manual, i dont kno, maybe driver's race, but i dont believe the manual will be THAT much faster than the CLS....same engines,....it might pull ahead a lil but it wont pull away from the CLS

Mid 15s for the 1/4? If we are talking about a manual tranny 330Ci, you are almost a second too high.

As far as acceleration, I would say all these two hundred something horsepower six cylinder "sport" cars are pretty close to each other. There's really no need to argue which one is faster, especially when comparing manual cars, drivers are the significant factors. As long as they can go from 0-60mph under seven seconds, they are fast. And I am sure both 330Ci and 3.2CL Type S could do that.

Oh, how come there are still no car magazine put 330Ci, 3.2CL Type S, and G35 coupe in a comparison? I just want to see them park and run next to each other, it would look very nice. How about a dark gray 330Ci, a blue 3.2CL Type S, and a red G35 coupe? My god, looks very sweet in my imagination, who cares which is faster, they are all fast and handsome. They are the best looking coupes in $30k-$40k range.

Wow, alternate opinion. I know the Germans can get cold and tedious with their interiors but I think Audi makes the very best or about equal to Lexus whicj I like. Infiniti is crappy. Looked at the new CLK MB today, that dash! instrument panel! and interior were very very nice. BMW is not great I agree, looks low to mid range for the price, does not match the level of the rest of the design.
