test drive my friend's sti
all i have to say ... WOW.... that was.... Fast... very fast.
he is a cop and very into imports.
he has 2 cars.. sentra with sr20det and a 04 sti because i am in the market of buying a sti and also subaru dealer wont let me test drive one so i drove his.
Car specs:
04 silver STI... with stripped interior except for front dash and 2 racing seats. Volk CE28 18" with JIC coilovers (it was set at stiffest), hotchik sway bar with cucos V bar, strut bar, and all kind of bars. Invidia headers, up pipe, down pipe, with catless exhasuts and blitz bov. stock boost. carbon fiber hood and trunk.
test drive impresson:
IT WAS VERY VERY VERY BOUNCY AND STIFF.. it feels like a piece of metal running on the street. i felt like throwing up after the test drive. There was no turbo lag whatsoever unlike Evo8. it feel like N/A cars if there is no bov. i took a 90 degee turn at 40ish mph and it was very easy to do , the tire didnt even squeek.
the stright line rolling start speed is MUCH faster than E46 M3 (imagine from a stop).. it was too fast that my legs felt numb after i left the car.
The only complain i have for STI is... the shift knob.. it is too tall and the gear ratio is too close, so it felt like a joystick .. kinda hard to down shift without miss shift... the clutch is VERY nice.. short and hard.. very easy to control.
Now my mind is set on 350Z convertible OR 05 STi

because less weight = better handling and faster on the track?
and how much is a brand new S4?? it s like almost double the price of STI
besides S4 will get its ass smoked on the track by STI (stock vs stock) (modded vs modded)
i would buy a STI and stripped it down to go to track but i wouldnt buy a S4 and strip it down....

well i have been driving my friend's sc430 for a couple of days since my gf took my xb. i kinda fell in love with convertible. but i also love the speed and handling of STi but it just look too ugly.

Well I don't find it efficient to strip down an STi for the track, guy must really be in love with the car.
Def. don't go the STi route, already you can't test drive one which is bullshit. And you've gone from a CL to G35 which are all classy. That's my take.
