I think the same can be said of people who lots of other cars. The worst are those who drive lesser BMW 3 series, M-B C-classes, a Lexus ES330, or a BMW 525. There are so many better cars that can be had for the same money. The Escalade, on the other hand, is a fairly practical and posh family car for people who don't drive fast and who don't care about fuel consumption.

Not if you have to tow a boat or a horse trailer. There are still good uses for an SUV based on a pickup truck.

But the Tahoe/Jeep won't get stick in tall weeds like these other pretender SUV/4x4's.

If I were to get a SUV/4*4, it has be a truck...no crossover's.
And if you wanted to tow/haul stuff around, you can go to UHAUL. Its like $19.99/day for a UHAUL.

I have a moral opposition which I have voiced before to putting large rims on any truck based platform. I see it as the moral equivalence of putting 15's on a Porsche with mud tires.

Whoa. I think i have to seriously disgree with you here. I can completely understand why people get ES330's. There is nothing more luxurious for that price. Period. For a commuter car, or a highway car to someone that doesnt give a hoot about performance, there's absolutely nothing better. As far as the lesser 3 series go. There's still nothing that can outhandle a 3er. My sister spent the summer in vermont, and she'll be the first to tell you that there werent really any roads in her area that you could get past 50 on. So if you're in an area full of curvy roads and few highways, a lesser 3er is probably an excellent choice for you. 525s and C classes, I agree with though. A 525 is just too grossly underpowered. I mean, I can agrue for people with a 530...but 525? Come on, lets get real here. And dont even get me started on C classes.

That's the old Escalade. And as for gas, nobody who cares about gas buys these cars.

And they aren't primarily driven by wanksta's. Plenty of people who have boats or horses choose this over the Suburban because it's a little more luxurious. It's more practical than a Range Rover and more comfortable than an H2 as well.

To be sure the Range Rover and M-B sport utes are better in many respects, but I don't think I've ever seen a Range Rover/Cayenne/or M-B sport ute doing any serious towing duty.

cayenne is a performer. nothing else. escalade is a hauler. nothing else. someone said a couple posts back that the cayenne couldn't haul as much as an escalade so i just simply pointed out that it could haul just as much and more.

I would rather an Escalade to tow than a Cayenne. It is larger which is better for towing and it has more torque.
