Maybe its the fact that this show is trying to be like top gear to much that you can see how scripted it is.
See we know that jeremy loves shooting things and blowing up things. Which is why you see him do it most of the time. James doesnt in the way jeremy does, which is why you dont see that. Let the characters bring their own individuality to the show.

I'm just about finished with this show and I'm not really impressed. I'm not going to give up on it but I'm not going to eagerly wait for the new episode.

True but if it's anything like the review of the Rolls, I'm not going to enjoy it. That segment focused more on eating inside of the car rather than the car itself. They showed the dash board and the engine once. They ranted and raved about the rear seat but never showed it. Didn't give any performance numbers and briefly mentioned the "$300k+" price tag. Very disappointing and annoying section of the show.

'08 MX5 GT 6spd.
When will people learn.
Top Gear BBC is pretty much perfect, you cannot improve upon it.
I think the difference between that and all of these knock-offs is the entire crew and all of the writers have a passion for cars. It shows in the video work, the commentary, the antics. The stuff you can't write, you certainly cant make up for with a gimmick or "get-rich-quick" scheme which TG USA and this new show seem to be about.
They are trying to jump on a bandwagon that can't really be jumped on.

Okay, I've tried again, but the whole thing strikes me as so amateurish; it's just not well done (even setting aside Corolla). Oh, and, does John Salley actually do anything?

So:
1. Cancel "The Car Show"
2. Fire Adam Ferrara on TGUS and add Dan Neil

Like this show MUCH better than TG USA.
Sure it's no where near TG UK, but it's better than TG USA.
I think I am done with TG USA.

Yea, I think this show is kind of "dead in the water". Someone must really like Adam Corolla because they keep giving a shot to make something of himself on television. And John Salley.....why? What does he bring to the table?....other than the fact that he's tall-let's see if he can fit into this car?????

I'm pretty sure John Salley has a huge car collection if he talks about his car broker all the time. Sure he doesn't have much knowledge, but at least he's somewhat entertaining, unlike that Adam Ferrera dude. And yeah it's funny watching a super tall dude trying to fit into tiny sports cars.
I liked last night's episode. The SUV segment made me laugh. And unlike TG USA which will turn that segment into a whole episode, The Car Show kept it to about 15 minutes which was just enough.
Is it as good as TGUK? Nope. It is better than TGUSA? Yep, by leaps and bounds IMO.

Word around the internetz today is that SPEED channel's The Car Show has been cancelled and will not be returning for a second season. The Car Show debuted last July 13 on SPEED and was seen by many enthusiasts as that channel's answer to the U.S. version of Top Gear on The History Channel, which we learned a few months ago was picked up for a second season. The Car Show leaves behind its panel of hosts, which included comedian and car guy Adam Carolla (who moves on to Celebrity Apprentice with Michael Andretti and Paul Teutel Sr.), Pulitzer Prize-winning auto journalist Dan Neil, former NBA star John Sally and host and producer of The Smoking Tire, Matt Farah.
