Synth + all 350Z owners, can you help?

Just looking at my options here. Might be interested in a Z. As far as the Nismo options the Nissan dealer offers, which are a joke and which are good for your money? I'm sure they are all overpriced and could get them through a vendor anyway.

How does the nismo exhaust sound? I've always been a fan of Magnaflows. Do people put that on Z's?
Nismo springs worth it or go with something else?

thanks.

We can get some of the Nismo parts... so don't waste your money getting them through the dealer unless they're giving you a good price...

There are thousands of mods out for the Z, the majority of which aren't Nismo. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of Nismo as I believe they are overpriced for the quality and gains.

I'm more of a go-person, so I went with an intake, lower plenum (MREV2) and plenum spacer for the most cost effective HP and TQ gains.

I've heard the Nismo exhaust and while it sounds pretty nice, there are many others to choose from as well. My favorite is HKS (can't remember the exact model) but searching the Z forums, you can find sound clips of many different exhausts.

Get a full titanium exhaust for the most gains and weight savings

My favorite exhaust on the 350Z is the Amuse Titan -its a bit pricey $2599.00 but is definetly worth the money. Great quality!!!

I'm thinking about selling my current exhaust for this setup on my evo. JDM y0!

That exhaust is tits!! When I bought my suspension, I got to check one out. That thing is as light as a soda can. Your wallet will be light as well.

If you go w/ Nismo stuff, definitley get it from vendors. I loved the exhaust sound. I had headers and exhaust. I never got tired of the sound. I think the newer "rev up" motors respond better to bolt ons than the previous models.

I had the Nismo exhaust on my G (Same exhaust for the Z with an extension) and LOVED it.. its basically the stock sound but more aggressive plus it gives a nice weight savings. check out mynismo.com which is where I bought mine from.

As far as magnaflows go.. havent heard of them for the Z but then again I've been out of the game for a year. Springs.. it depends, I had eibachs and loved it. Heres a picture of the drop:

Again.. you'll love the Nismo if you like the stock exhaust note but stock is not quite loud/aggressive enough for you.. in the higher rpm's it sounds amazing. A good clip I found on youtube:

Magnaflow is pretty much universal. I have done it to my 2 previous cars including the CL and love it. That NISMO exhaust is fucking sex though. sounds amazing.

With regard to NISMO parts just remember: R-tune parts are not warranteed and can void the Nissan warranty on your Z. (....still trying to figure out why Nissan would sell parts for their products that would void their own warranty. )

They must have changed that deal because I had my real axle replaced.. Engine, and Transmission replaced under warranty with the Nismo Exhaust installed as well as other parts. Actually the dealer recommended the exhaust to me while I was getting some service done.

The NISMO exhaust is an S-Tune product and is covered by the warranty like any other OEM part.

what are your goals? If you are planning on going FI down the road, do not waste your money on any nismo products. If you're getting an exhaust, try at least to get a 2.5" piping as it will work best with FI. If not, I like the sound of the nismo, invidia (SS with titanium tips- cheaper then full titanium), HKS, Stillen, borla, and one of my buddy has a magnaflow on his G35 which sounds pretty good as well.... on my350z, I've seen some custom magnaflow applications. I only knew one person with the nismo springs, he really didn't like them that much and went with something more agressive. As was posted, crapload of Z products out there.... you have plenty of options.

Test drove a 350Z with a Nismo Exhaust and intake, and all i gotta say is that the exhaust note was beautiful. Nice popping sounds and definately a gorgeous hum when you hit the accelerator!

....still recall being rebuked by my Nissan dealer's service dept for the Injen CAI on my 02 Maxima......and it was beyond its powertrain warranty period.

The exhaust won't void powertrain warranties thanks to the Magnusson-Moss Act.

Whats wrong with putting quality parts on your car?

I simply suggested a hand made full titanium exhaust system and now I am a crack smoker

So why do you continue to dump all that money into your car? Is that worth the money? Are you on crack?

Cmon man, stop trying to make me look bad on the intraweb

^ Calm down. I inserted a smilie. You can argue that ANY mod is a waste of money. You didn't read between the lines. If you do choose to waste money on your car, waste it wisely (if that makes any sense). Why would you spend almost 3k on an exhaust that gives you little to NO performance gains? It's all relative. I've seen ppl sell used SC's close to the price as this "quality" exhaust system. Again, 3k on an exhaust for inconsequential weight reduction & no significant performance gains is not worth it imho. Put that into something else.

The Stillen exhaust (though heavier than stock by 10lbs) is pretty impressive with its hp/lb-ft gains. ...wish I could see dyno graph overlay for all.

Doesn't seem as though anyone makes a good exhaust system for the Z.

^ I would agree. Exhuast for the Z (non-FI) really is for cosmetic/asthetics/sound. Stock does the job well, some small gains on aftermarket systems.

Synth-
Performance wise, all I would really do is I/H/E. Without hearing any other Z exhaust clips besides the NISMO exhaust, I think I am already sold. That sounds soooo nice. As far as headers go, I know some people had problems with DC headers for the CL, is it the same for the Z or are they reliable for the Z?

Thanks for all the help so far.

^ I have heard no issues on the DC headers, ceramic or SS. Some ppll got them at an incredible price a few years ago when a vendor put the wrong price up online. lol. I think if you post on chicagoZ, you should be able to get both for cheap. I dont know what your time frame is, but if you wait until the spring... come to a meet and I'm sure ppl will let ya hear their exhausts in person.

I would be curious to hear the Magnaflow on a Z and G because I can get a custom magnaflow exhaust system done for real cheap. Oh well. I have time, I dont think I will be buying one until the spring time. Right now I just want to familiarize (sp) myself so when I buy it, I have all the parts ready to be ordered or get put on.

Magnaflow used to make a titanium series exhaust for under $1000 but they discontinued it, you might be able to find one used.

How about the JIC Magic Spartan Full titanium single exhaust. Its only 9lbs total including the muffler. Titanium piping is only 1mm thick so it helps to dissapate exhaust gas temps and it saves you almost 50lbs over your stock exhaust system.

You can get it for a couple more hundred than the nismo. Its not as bling as the amuse exhaust but it will outperform other exhausts hands down. From personal experience, nothing sounds better to me than a titanium exhaust

Listen to the sound of this exhaust

Here is a website with a lot of exhaust clips, but it is a bit old as there are others available now:

http://www.everything350z.com/exhaust.html

This thread has a lot of clips of different exhausts as well (some links may be dead earlier in the thread)

http://www.my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?t=105031

I also like the Greddy Evo2 as well

Don't you actually want to retain heat in the exhaust? hotter = better flow if I'm not mistaken.
