Xjr

Was browsing inventory at some dealerships looking for 993 911s and found this. This car was $80,000 3 years ago!

My cousin was just talking about a 99 XKR he saw for $13k last night..

Jaguars don't have the best resale values out there even tho' they have gotten more reliable since ford took over.

Reliability on a 2000 XJ.

2003 is same car as 2000 for all practical purposes, so for 3 years, probably no more problems then you would have buying any other non-JP car.

Talk about interesting Jags, the local dealer just rolled this onto the floor

...though the F40 along side of it is more to my taste

I was just window shopping since I'm poor

Hardly. They are around or below the quarter million dollar mark. They cost 650,000 when new.

Yeah but what's the maintenance going to be like? Despite the increased reliability from Ford, that doesn't give me much more confidence.

I would love to snatch up one of those Jags at those prices, but it's the reliability and maintenance that'll scare me.

If I was ever to buy a used Jag, I would just pay cash for it and chalk up the breakdowns and such to cost of ownership. I also would have a second car....

That's the kind of Jag I would buy. Something off of someone else's lease, especially someone I know.

My dad had a 99 XJR that he ran up to 120k before selling it. Didn't run into any problems with the car and it was strong for the 4 years he owned it. I loved that car. Didn't get a great trade in on it (18k at the time) but sure, if taken care of, it would have run forever. He has been thinking about getting another one although I like the slightly smaller body style.
