The biggest reason I chose an R/T over an SRT is the MPG. The MDS (Multi-Displacement System) shuts down half the cylinders when cruising so even with the mods I have and a huge brick of a scoop sitting on the hood making it less aerodynamic I still get around 25 MPG on a straight highway run. The SRTs will never see that kind of MPG. Around town the MPG drop to around 17 MPG which still isn't terrible for a full size V8 with close to 400 HP IMO. Combined overall with the majority of my driving being around town with the occasional highway drives to the in laws I'm averaging 18.5 MPG.
Just sayin', you know, since mileage is important
And yeah, dad is cooler than you

But yeah, all in all it's crazy how much better the big HEMI MPG is now with MDS and the 8spd auto. It does make me think what if, but now that I'm car payment free I would never be able to justify getting a new car, even as entertaining as it'd be. In the real world I can rarely find a time to unleash the full potential of mine let alone a Scat Pack so it'd be more for bragging rights than actual enjoyment.
And as much as I hate to admit it, on the outside, dad might just be a tad bit cooler than son, but I'll take a full head of hair driving the 4 door muscle car over the bald guy driving the cooler car lol.

I like the rear hockey stripe....but I say keep the spoiler. I like the spoiler on those.
I think you are making a wise choice getting rid of the TA hood.

And I prefer the look with the spoiler.

I appreciate the feedback. Weirdly making it look more like a base model is intriguing to me. I do like the concept of a sleeper, which as of right now with the T/A hood and wing spoiler has the complete opposite effect, more show than go.

What would you be looking at with a moderate tune?

I'm not 100% sure, but with long tube headers and a custom tune it could be anywhere from 350-380 to the wheels. It's kind of hard to say. The rear gear upgrade (from 2.65 to 3.06) would probably make just as much of a difference, if not more, in the way the car accelerates.

Never even got to put on the SRT intake manifold I had. I would imagine long tube headers will be a little greater for gains.

With SRT headers, a true CAI, 180 T-stat, larger TB, and a custom tune I was at 370hp/400tq to the wheels. That was good for 30hp as my original Dyno at stock was 340/370.

Speaking of the 6.1 intake manifold, did you end up selling it or do you still have it?

Aha nice. I've read the Eagle intake is actually just as good if not better performing than the 6.1 manifold. Thoughts?

Visually I liked the look of srt more (not running the engine cover) it's also lighter since it was aluminum. And a Phenolic spacer would help with heat soak.

Supposed to be more open, too, in terms of air flow.

Well the hood is officially sold. I didn't even have to list it anywhere. A guy on one of the FB pages commented on how much he liked my hood and it turns out he has an exact same 09 R/T R&T Deep Water Blue so I asked him if he was interested in it and he jumped all over it. He's coming Monday to pick it up. I'm kind of sad after all the time and effort I put into it but at this point I'm glad to at least be able to get back 1/2 of what I put into it and put the stock hood back on. Lesson learned, never going to get an aftermarket fiberglass hood again.

Keep the spolier.
The 6MT as most manuals are more efficient...BUT it's HARD to launch the 6MT SRT8 right if your trying to race. The auto cars are a tick faster for your average driver at the track.
MPG....I was getting 12-14 in town...most fo the time it was 13.x. All HW trip to NYC & back I was getting 19.x.
I'm sure the Nag1 doesn't transfer the horses as well as the 6 spd does

Congrats.
By the way, I like it without the spoiler and stripe. Maybe get THESE and paint the top and side body color like this:

I've Photoshopped that exact look on my car quite a few times. I go back and forth on whether I'd want to go forward with it or not.

When I was on the fence about whether to remove the decklid spoiler, or not...
I would remove it, and then just use circles I cut out of black vinyl to cover the holes until I made up my mind that I loved the look more.
Find some blue vinyl...
