Suggestions on small "SUV" for under $28k (kid friendly)
In regards to the Jeep; always been a fan.... of the SRT8. Just out of our price range at 50 to 60k
The cherokee trailhawk however...under 40k
When the time comes for a ute, The JGC and the 4Runner Trail are at the top of my list. The Jeep has such a presence to it. I think they're great looking SUVs
They're pretty nice looking in person. A little odd from the rear, lots of blank metal on the hatch, but that's the only complaint I have from the outside.
I've seen plenty of Jeep Cherokees on the street already and I still think they are some of the ugliest cars on the road.
It's not just the horrible squinty eyes up front (which I take personal offense to as an Asian
). They placed the rear tail lights up so high and the license plate holder on the bumper so there's all this empty space on the trunk door in between. It just looks unfinished IMO (worse in lighter colors), but to each his own.

Shit, reminds me of a guy I knew who went from a 450 awhp Evo X to a Prius. He rationalized it so well and has kept it for so long, but now he's itching to get out of it
I have seen the new Cherokee on the road. I gave it a ton of vitriol, but it actually looks good in person
The front fascia just reminded me too much of the Nissan Juke. Abomination on wheels. But the Cherokee... it works.

This is how I got a say in what car my wife got. I drive it 40% of the time. I wanted the RDX, she wanted the Subaru Forester. We compromised and got the forester.

The STI conversion on Forester is straight up HAWTHAWT.
Those are fun to drive!

My brother has a '12 Forester Turbo. It has serious oomph but honestly it's really not a nice vehicle. It's really plain and rather cheap.
It STILL has a 4-speed auto and they want $27K for a new '13 XT Premium.
Subaru might still build reliable vehicles but they have completely lost their way as a company. And that's sad.

And yes, Subaru has lost its way. Its best car is basically a gift from Toyota.

It's fucking crap.

Their cars are for the enthusiasts, not really for the average buyers.
Signing papers on the 2014 CX5 Grand Touring/Tech today. Really digging it after a few days of test driving. Like my previous daily (RL), I'd like to keep this for at least 7 years or so.
