Suburban or Expedition EL

Mother needs a new HUGE suv after 3 years of our 04' chevy suburban z71

both were recently redone and both are quite nice. Many magazines go back and forth with each having their respective points.

Also looking at yukon denali xl, escalade esv... but these 2 in specific

If I ever buy anything again built by GM I hope my wife takes me out and shoots me....it means my brain has finally turned to mush.

Go with the Ford if she really needs something that big.

ford is just horriable. Every ford i see just makes me think it wants to die. GM trucks are awesome in my eyes. My dad has had a yokon since 94 and upgraded to the new model every 3 years. Currently he is in the new denali and loves it.

Legitimate reasons...

Like you said, just get her to test drive the Expedition and see how she likes it.

between the two, i would go w/ the burban.

have you thought about the new Sequoia? It hasn't been introduced yet. It's supposed to be bigger w/ that awesome 5.7 litter engine & 6 speed tranny.

I would go with the Yukon Denali XL or the Suburban. I have an Expedition and will never buy another Ford again unless its a Shelby.

too expensive for the size and way to small for our needs... my bro drive the landcrusier and he would have to get the hybrid which is too expensive for a college student - key word was considering

i doubt the new sequoia would be as big as a suburban or a expedition el but will be bigger than what it is now.

agreed

pros for the Ford :column shifter, 6 speed tranny, power fold 3rd row, can tow more (not that big of an issue), roomier (by a little) rear seats, chearper by a good 5K

Pros for the chevy:its not a ford, high (by one mile) epa rating, IMO better controls, power fold 2nd row seats

still heads up tho... we really are GM fans rather than ford... but we just may look at it

I bought my fiance a 07 Yukon SLT3 for X-mas. It's not the extended because she didn't want that model. Anyways, niether of us really considered the ford. We were looking at the Q7 and Merc GL.

Well, the Yukon now has about 7,000 miles and it is running like new. Not even a single rattle. I highly recommend it!

We've had a good ownership experience with our ford suv (mercury mountaineer) and will probably stick with the brand. Often times the Mountaineer is jam packed with people and luggage and I wish we had a bigger one so I too will be paying close attention to this segment.

If you need that big of a car for family, it's gonna be the Expedition. The 3rd row seats in the GMs are useless, you're literally on the floor, there's no height to the seats. It's the same even on the longer version ones.

ehh, i fit and im 6 foot but for long trips, no go.

the expedition's 3rd row is very roomy however, reminds me of the 96' to the 00'? suburbans of chevy/gmc.

but the cargo of the expedition's is smaller than the gm at that expense

man.. if I had to choose between hitler and muscilini, I'd have a tough time choosing too.

If you NEED it, i'd probably go with The General. I've lost alot of respect for ford recently.. cars are soo ugly.

We have an 03 Expedition, essentially the same body style. I must say the eletric fold third row is priceless. chevy's flip and tumble 2nd row does not compare! We're on our thrid Expedition ( the in-laws are Ford folks, and I've historically been a GM guy) and we love our Expy. In my opinion the tahoe and sub are just now catching up to the 2003 redesign of the Expedition. I'm not a hiufe fan of the 2007 Expy front end, but otherwise I'd say the Expy is the classier vehicle, and the Sub is a worthy adversary. You're not likely to go wrong with either, but try on the power fold thrid row and you'll see it should sway your decision.
